[indienews] New post: "Exploring retro web design" https://jamesg.blog/2021/11/12/retro-website-design.html

btw, the unofficial definition of retro is ~30-60 years old, vintage ~60-90, antique is 90+, so, in theory, retro for the web is not even geocities yet :P :)

antique used to be 100 years I'm sure

petermolnar Although, colloquially, the definition of the "retro web" does not adhere to the more traditional meaning.

As I wrote yesterday in #indieweb-dev, I would always call this '90s web design. If you google for "retro web design" images, you won't get what you mean.
#
[chrisbergr]
Or maybe neocities-era web design, can also be tagged with pre/post
#
[chrisbergr]
oops, of course I meant geocities ^^
#
petermolnar
dial-up era?
#
petermolnar
and I agree, 90's web design, or something similar is probably a better name
#
petermolnar
(if anyone needs dial-up sound for their design to play as midi in the background: http://savethesounds.info/ )

What is an antimeme?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "antimeme" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "antimeme is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
[chrisaldrich]
Perhaps not worth defining specifically yet, but an interesting kernel of an idea I came across via a friend at Wordnik citing science fiction: antimeme defined as _"an idea with self-censoring properties...which, by its intrinsic nature, discourages or prevents people from spreading it."_ https://hyp.is/Wi1AiklTEeyyRYvGcucc2A/nayafia.substack.com/p/27-friend-groups I'll have to delve in to see if there are potential implementation

unless it impacts something about the technical details of your /read post, still seems unrelated to IndieWeb
