# [chrisaldrich] Just the list of backlinks to my user page on our wiki is pretty garish: https://indieweb.org/User:Boffosocko.com#Backlinks
# [chrisaldrich] wonders if having links in both directions adds a more powerful signal for search value? (presuming that the SEO wonks haven't already washed it out?)

# petermolnar st fine!
# petermolnar I found a new source for backlinks: I've been using https://f5bot.com/ <https://f5bot.com/dash> for a while to get alerts is my site is mentioned on HN or Reddit. It sends an email when it maches search criterias, so I added an email hook in integromat, extracted the html links from it, fetched the sites, checked for any of my site domains, and sent those to webmention.io. To my surprise, it works ju

# digivonity Hi, I was here a couple of weeks ago to ask some questions. I just want you to know I'm building my own indie spot, making use of miroformats. When I'm done or have questions, I let you know.

# [KevinMarks] that's great - You may find indiewebify.me helpful for checking your microformats
# digivonity Thanks for the link. I instantly checked my h-card - it needs some work :-)

# Loqi It looks like we don't have a page for "F5Bot" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "F5Bot is ____", a sentence describing the term)
# [tantek] F5Bot is https://f5bot.com/ a service for checking [[Reddit]], [[Hacker News]], and [[Lobsters]] for keywords and notifying by [[email]]s, which can be extracted for links to your personal site as a source of [[webmentions]].
# [tantek] F5Bot << IndieWeb Example:
{{petermolnar}}
is using F5Bot for [[backfeed]], with his own email hook to extract links to HTML pages, checking for any of his site domains, and sending them to [[webmention.io]].# Loqi ok, I added "IndieWeb Example:
{{petermolnar}}
is using F5Bot for [[backfeed]], with his own email hook to extract links to HTML pages, checking for any of his site domains, and sending them to [[webmention.io]]." to a brand new "See Also" section of /F5Bot https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=78212&oldid=78211 alex11 joined the channel
# doubleloop[m] Re: linking vs interlinking, great question! If I'm honest I think I just used 'interlinking' loosely when I wrote that, just the word that popped in to my head. But if I were to retcon it I think Chris' definition makes a lot of sense - something a bit more two-way, communal.
# doubleloop[m] [chrisaldrich]: re: the links from my pages to the Agora, it's a bit noddy, I just construct the link automatically when I generate my site, as I know they will have the same URL slug when I posse them to Agora.
# doubleloop[m] I quite like the old sister sites idea, but I think that would involve some dynamic querying to see if one of your 'sister sites' has a 'twin page' http://wiki.c2.com/?SisterSites
# doubleloop[m] Sorry this is a better link http://wiki.c2.com/?AboutSisterSites
# doubleloop[m] [chrisaldrich]: I missed yesterday you mentioned a WordPress way of converting wikilinks in to tags. That would be great! I did something similar recently, in that I format wikilinks in my stream to point to the corresponding page in my garden. https://gitlab.com/ngm/doublescores/-/commit/0887a99ba8d693bb2330d74f1736739f9824da3b

# [KevinMarks] is that like fedwiki?

# [KevinMarks] this is like a bash quote, but I have a fedwiki at http://wiki.kevinmarks.com/ except I can't remember where it's hosted and why it crashed

# [KevinMarks] IIRC I set it up when fedwiki was shown at IWC and I found I didn't think to use it much. I suspect it's the older ruby codebase and heroku has bitrotted on me. When AWS is back up I'll have a look.

# [KevinMarks] hm. SO I logged into AWS to check route 53 to see where my subdomain was, and it is on heroku, and heroku wants me to update buildpacks on 4 apps, and I'm not in the mood for that much yak shaving. I apparently deployed the ruby fedwiki on Nov 1st 2013
# [KevinMarks] I might just blow it away and install the newer node version

# [KevinMarks] It was a few computers ago, but I could still connect to the VM it's running on. I don't think I did much with it at the time though.
