gRegorYeah I don't think I've ever had to give IG app my number. Though Meta probably has it already for years ago in my FB profile, or the shadow profiles they make based on FB friends.
ZegnatI use those social media silos very little. And when I do, it is for the original idea of socials: staying in touch with people I know. So on IG my account is private and I never use any of the discovery features. Just look at stories from friends, and sometimes send DMs to people who are not available in other places 🤷♀️
[jeremycherfas]I never like things from people I don’t follow and am thorough about blocking intrusive accounts. I still see a lot of dross, but overall it is ok.
real_devastatia[tantek]: They require you to login on mobile app to add your website URL to your profile. The field is disabled in desktop browser. That's the only profile field with that requirement, which makes me suspicious.
ZegnatIf you are going to train a model on public domain stuff, but the base you are training might also include the non-public domain stuff, what even is the use?!
real_devastatiaI'm banned from Facebook and Twitter too. I'll soon be able to do anything on my personal site that I used to do on those platforms, so they're irrelevant to me.

[tantek]Gotta be low fidelity conversion. I can't expect it does anything intelligent with Atom AS1 for example (would be a pleasant surprise if it did) e.g. my atom feed, nevermind @-mentions and hashtags
gRegorAkismet does have a nice stat panel apparently, just signed in. 5,374 spam comments blocked in last year, 283 Ham, 126 missed spam (ones I reported back to them as spam).
