paperbrittSay your website's bandwidth was being taken up by robots, say they ramped up over the last week to the point where yesterday they hit 7000 page views, had no useful user agent to block, used multiple ip addresses from multiple countries and just kept going even when using wordfence to block IP ranges.
paperbrittWould you start temporarily blocking the 6+ countries those bots came from using .htaccess? I'm worried about impacting the tiny amount of legitimate international traffic I get.
.straydogstrutHello, not sure if this is the best place to ask - and I’m on my mobile so could be poor connection - but the Indie Web site looks broken. All styling has been removed. If I try to visit some of the links I get a ‘cannot find database’ error. Is it just me?
paperbrittIt was more a limit that was hit due to multiple page views a second, 7k is just what got through around the 503s caused by overloading. Like they keep hitting it multiple times a second until it gets temporarily overloaded.
paperbrittI have unlimited bandwidth within reason (their wording) but if the database can't fulfill the requests it's the same sort of problem. Sorry, not perfect wording, honestly I miss static sites and will return there once I get my shop off WooCommerce.
