[Al_Abut] [tantek] good point about the secret society. I mean what else is a group of friends but a little cult, right? Especially if you’re doing something creative on your own site. Then the focus on obscure in-jokes is a bonding feature and not a clarity bug.

[Al_Abut] [tantek] not exactly what I’m saying. I’m saying I grade on a curve when it’s not a commercial product 🤣

[aciccarello] Does anyone hear people talk about actually seeing things on threads? I'm wondering if it'd be worth POSSEing there

[aciccarello] I think it was the Garbage Day newsletter that described it as just a collection of screenshots of posts from other sites
#
[aciccarello] Meta is still limiting what servers can federate, right?
#
[aciccarello] Like you can't read bridgy fed posts on Threads
gRegor joined the channel
#
[KevinMarks] Threads is applying a tiktok algorithm to text so it shows posts to people entirely unconnected from who they follow, leading to a lot of blank incomprehension. Also it's still promoting them to Instagram users
#
[KevinMarks] Katie Notopolous calls it the gas leak network as every response seems like they have carbon monoxide poisoning
#
[aciccarello] Found the threads issues https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues/1210
#
[aciccarello] I didn't realize it was working

[aciccarello] Yeah, I guess it is unsurprising that Meta cooled on federation when the public interest faded. I could totally see them shutting it off.

Loqi feudiverse is a portmanteau of “feud” or ”feudal” and another portmanteau, “fediverse”, alluding to the nature of any Twitter-like scroll and react interface as amplifying of disagreements & arguments, or the criticism of Mastodon and other servers run by an individual for many users as rebuilding a feudal model, the admin as feudal lord and users as serfs providing value without ownership https://indieweb.org/feudiverse

[morgan] Can you elaborate a little more on workflow? For me that word evokes images of hastily copying markdown frontmatter from an existing post, making a new file, copying it in and copying a half written post from obsidian into my text editor and then usually refining and fixing typos lol
#
[morgan] Workflow implies some kind of plan or order but that is not always the case 😄

#
[morgan] the indieweb chat is here to help nurture your style, long-form or shorter-form etc., choose the adventure
#
[aciccarello] I write my blog posts in markdown in a code editor. It usually takes me a long time so I also have a page where I keep track of my drafts.
#
[morgan] Since it seems on topic, basically Im writing ideas all the time and notes into my editor of choice which is Obsidian. Ill write and curate a big list of draft topic ideas and add little bullet points as I think of them, and then sometimes when I have like 2-3 points or return to a topic and "still like it" then eventually I make the somewhat loose and chaotic transferral into Visual Studio Code where I make the markdown file and update the
#
[morgan] basic front matter for a new post. Then I start writing into that and editing the post while running hugo server to see what it looks like on my site, and then I eventually get exhausted and want to publish it.
#
[aciccarello] This seems relevant: https://front-end.social/@ashur/115919123988033614
#
[aciccarello] Or more directly
#
[morgan] This feels very on topic and on brand. I think its not too dev-y at all, people want to know what others are using, sometimes it opens real new doors and experiences to blogging and otherwise
#
[morgan] what is uses?
#
Loqi using is a page of tools and services that someone uses or likes to use, or can also refer to the name of an authoring and/or publishing application in the context of a post, though that secondary meaning is more precisely expressed as giving credit to applications https://indieweb.org/uses
#
[morgan] I should re-make my uses page 🙂
#
[aciccarello] I have some information about how my site is made on my colophon page. I haven't really felt like keeping a /uses page up to date.
#
[morgan] Im thinking of making one with a particular focus on my music gear, as its proven really helpful and interesting to share that information and connect with people who have similar interests in the same music gear
