[tantek] [edit] Another odd practice that I feel is more annoying than useful: encoding a link in a tweet as also a massive QR code embedded photo: https://twitter.com/SF_emergency/status/1554910246694371328

capjamesg [edit] If you publish photos on your website, be aware of increases in machine learning geolocation from images: https://twitter.com/arithmoquine/status/1785834410312454389

Loqi [edit] [@photomatt] People seem to be redefining Web 2.0 as Facebook, etc, that own data, but Web 2.0 at the time was platforms like WordPress, Odeo, Six Apart, Flickr, Technorati, and http://del.icio.us that had open data and interoperated. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ross/49490304 https://twitter.com/brian_armstrong/status/1479636522282455042 https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FIoBOQ1UYAQEooV.jpg (https://twitter.com/_/status/1479998907123

Jrz I have an idea-sinxe the majority dont use indieweb cuz they have to set up a server but now we got ai to make websites man
cotsuka joined the channel
#
[Murray] Hi Jrz π There's already no need for someone to run a server, or build their own website, because services like http://Micro.blog exist π Or even "WYSIWYG" website editors, like SquareSpace (not that I'd advise that route specifically π
) AI may help lower certain barriers, but there are definitely ways to climb over them already

rMdes its been a while I have not spent time here, but lately I worked to retrieve past incarnation of my blogs over the years and migrated everything to Indiekit, I migrated away both from Micro.blog, but also recovered copies of my data from the Internet Archive, from the time I was running Wordpress, then Known, then Tanzawa, anyway, I found myself quite happy to recover all this data, convert it to markdown and work on getting Eleventy working with
#
rMdes my indiekit backend, its now all available on https://rmendes.net, also spent a while to configure nginx to map 2K url's from the past back to their new home within the indiekit + eleventy context, then because I'm using Cloudron for my self-hosting needs, I packaged Indiekit for cloudron so that others can deploy the same setup if they want, then because I wanted to display github activity, but also funkwhale, youtube, RSS I developed (with
#
rMdes Claude) plugin extensions for indiekit, and since I noticed Indiekit missed a /microsub endpoint, I went full steam and used Claude to develop a full blown /microsub endpoint for Indiekit, it was a very fun experience, I learned a lot and its all available for anyone to use : https://rmendes.net/content/articles/2026-01-24-deploy-your-own-indieweb-site/
