valerieflynnYesterday & today did some work and remodeling on my personal website. Feeling accomplished corralling all my slash pages together and creating new ones.
status_boltHow long has the indieweb been around? In my head I'd think it has always been around, just not labelled as such I suppose. If that is correct, then has there been an uptick in recent years as the threat of big tech becomes more apparent?
status_boltThat sounds nice. I checked out your site by accident, not realizing clicking on your nick would take me there. Just read your article on deliberate fun, an interesting read.
Loqi🐦⬛ A caw is the sound of a crow's call and a page on several IndieWeb sites typically at /caw, the contents varying based on interpretation https://indieweb.org/caw
status_boltloqi you mentioned "A Web Revival: the Internet didn't die, you're just not on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkUgOT22F5s" in the other channel, #stream. Just wanted to say that was the video that bought me here.
status_boltyeah I read about that I think before joining the chat. I am moving away from big tech so looking at alternative communication platforms. IRC I have not used in a long time but it is more appealing now.
status_boltI see. Looking to run a website at the moment is not for me, maybe in the future. I want to move to a better internet and this is one of the places I have found on my travels.
status_boltI see you run linux. Something I am planning on moving to as I see big techs plan what they are doing, where they are headed and I want out. Is linux your daily driver? If so do you still use other OS's?
status_boltI have settled on mint. I am a beginner, with linux though have been testing it in a vm, moving to what I think is called workflow from windows to linux so I have been moving to cross platform software. Having a glance at your linux articles it is clear you are quite familiar and couple that with the fact you are a programmer. I'm just a normal person who has enough of a tech mind to realise that linux is the first step on the journey for me.
LoqiThe timeline briefly documents key IndieWeb (and influencing thereof) terms/ideas/concepts, inventions, implementations, specifications, events, and other achievements; people involved, and dates/URLs for each https://indieweb.org/timeline
status_bolt35mahboubine using the web interface rather than a locally installed application. I'll maybe look into something cross platform at some point. Just playing around for now.
[Al_Abut]etherpad is going to be open for a bit longer today in case there’s some other notes that I remember (like that Soderbergh link) and will be up here for a few hours more before being archived:
TokenPapayais cloudflare good with privacy? i saw they have a free option, or is there another free domain registry which won't share my data, or a european hosted one?
