Cool, tests for mf2 accepted, should make it less likely for it to break https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/pull/1803

micropub update syntax can't change nested attributes, right? so changing e.g. the alt-text for an image requires replacing the entire image (and possibly *all* images on the post)?
#
aaronpk
hm yeah
#
tantek
sounds like a potentially useful extension
#
tantek
should be able to update a single property value at a time (e.g. a single 'photo') without having to do anything with other images
#
tantek
sknebel "replacing the entire image" should just be a matter of re-using the same URL that the photo already is, without any need to re-upload etc. so in practice that should not be a big deal. am I missing something?
#
tantek
aaronpk: what happened to our icons? https://chat.indieweb.org/dev/2017-04-15#bottom
#
sknebel
tantek: yes, that is not a big issue, since embedded objects should be small (and if they are not, they can get their own urls as well). only a bit annoying that you can't replace one of multiple without changing the order
#
sknebel
(because "replace" effectively does the same as "delete" (the entire property) + "add")
#
aaronpk
i changed the wiki to not add h-entry if there is an h-card, so that user pages are h-cards instead of h-entrys
#
aaronpk
and fixed

#
sknebel
(and I guess that's true for all ordered properties, not only nested ones, so *that's* the core of the issue)

aaronpk - oh cool! does that work for h-event pages too?
#
aaronpk
It has been enabled for h-event pages for a long time
#
aaronpk
i just noticed it wasn't doing it for h-cards

martymcguire[m]: I wonder if an integrated /reader is any easier than a stand-alone feed reader
#
aaronpk
im designing it as an integrated reader actually
#
tantek
aaronpk, did you skip/postpone all the follow UI stuff as I suggested a few days (weeks?) ago?
#
aaronpk
yeah this isn't even including any following interface
#
martymcguire[m]
oh, the icons thing reminded me i need to fix my irc people info, since i can't seem to get matrix to stick with my schmarty irc handle.
#
martymcguire[m]
to save on edits: does anyone know if the web chat will ignore the [m] on my matrix-bridged handle?

ChrisAldrich: i think something has changed about your markup? i'm seeing a top-level h-as-article with everything as its children.
#
tantek
chrisaldrich - where is the h-as-article coming from? we really should stop doing that as it implies something standard that isn't

got it. needed to add the [m] to the end of the name. i feel legit again!
#
martymcguire[m]
hmm. short lived feeling of legitimacy, perhaps. neither method seemed to be picked up on the web chat.

what is h-as
#
Loqi
h-as was an attempt to explicitly map ActivityStreams vocabulary 1:1 to microformats, and has been largely abandoned since it somewhat duplicates existing h-entry functionality, and also encourages explicit post typing which post creation UIs have largely abandoned in favor of more user-flexible optional properties, and post type discovery for any consuming code that claims to need explicit types https://indieweb.org/h-as

Its coming from one of the pfefferle plugins I've been experimenting with lately while doing some theme work for adding WordPress themes. I'll either modify it or turn off shortly on my personal site.

what is jf2?
#
KartikPrabhu
what does jf2 do besides collapsing lists?
#
aaronpk
That's currently being discussed
#
aaronpk
i ended up diverging from what is currently documented as jf2
#
aaronpk
my version is vocabulary aware in order to make consulting it
#
aaronpk
to make consuming it easier
#
GWG
tantek, I can only remove it from things under my control.
#
tantek
aaronpk, yes jf2 could likely use an updated focus / objective statement accordingly
#
tantek
GWG, and for things not under your control, could you file issues as you discover them?
#
GWG
aaronpk, I mirrored your implementation in x-ray when I updated my consuming
