Is og:image my best bet for setting the twitter card image?
#
dougbeal
Can can I just add it to an image tag?
#
aaronpk
I think for twitter cards you have to be explicit, but they read both the twitter and FB meta tag
#
aaronpk
Facebook will use an img tag if the image is large enough iirc
#
tantek
dougbeal, see /link-preview

plenty of how-to there

snarfed, [miklb]: I probably should more accurately call it a 2.0 as I did with the milestone. snarfed's assessment is right, it isn't discarding anything.

sure, but where/how some of the logic is moving, so where to read which code is still important. I’m not complaining, just trying to figure out the breaking spots in my desired mobile posting workflows.
#
[miklb]
or I should say, trying to fix the broken stuff on my site so I can properly evaluate the different options
#
GWG
I was hoping that the changes would make the code better in places
#
GWG
What is this about Micropub post type Discovery?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "this about Micropub post type Discovery" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "this about Micropub post type Discovery is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
GWG
No, aaronpk I think
#
dougbeal
GWG: something something query micropub endpoint something something acceptiable kinds something something client?
#
[miklb]
how does post-kinds interpret micropub to determine if it’s an entry or note?
#
dougbeal
I think its more a micropub capable system can indicate to a client hints on kinds it supports
#
GWG
miklb, Post Kinds implements post type discovery.

GWG
Look at the plugin class
#
[miklb]
thanks
#
dougbeal
oh, well Quill supports it now, let me go see what it looks liek

not: [eddie] left you a message 2 minutes ago: sure if this is webmention.io’s fault or your’s [chrisaldrich] but your post showed up as you were RSVPing to me. 😆 it still showed up in my reader notifications so it “worked” but it’ll be cool when we figure out the technical side and I could add rsvp options inside of Indigenous
#
[eddie]
Ahh that would make sense why it showed up as an RSVP then...
#
aaronpk
Are there at least a few examples listed on the wiki? If so it might be time for me to add to XRay
#
[eddie]
Not many. One from Kyle previously, Chris Aldrich just did one
#
[eddie]
Bridgy had it for Facebook but.....
#
[eddie]
Lol 💀
#
[eddie]
So we might need some more examples first. This one is interesting being both an RSVP and invite, means when detecting, invite might need to be higher on the list
#
[eddie]
Or at least taking the person’s individual url location into account
#
[eddie]
So that’s an interesting thing to note
#
[eddie]
Hmmm one thing for Xray, it seems like everything except the u-in-reply-to should just be considered mentions (until u-invitee is recognized)
#
[eddie]
I thought it might have been how Chris marked up the page. But looking at it, I feel like it still should have shown up as a mention. I’ll file that as an issue with his post as a link
#
sknebel
what's the post you are talking about?
#
aaronpk
There's something else weird going on there
#

the php parser doesn't even see the rsvp/in-reply-to properties

Probably... My rsvps have something weird about them lately... Need to look at them.
#
aaronpk
In any case can you copy that current html into an issue on php-mf2? That's really confusing
#
aaronpk
I wonder if there is a missing closing tag somewhere
#
aaronpk
so that's throwing off where it thinks that html lives

I'll try later when I'm at my desktop...

[jgmac1106] and [eddie] joined the channel

[eddie]
[chrisaldrich] also something else to think about. You would probably want to do future invites from the actual event, not the rsvp. Because if I “reply” to the post that invited me, it’s an rsvp, not an event. So that will trick most Micropub interfaces to not provide RSVP options
#
gRegorLove
No h-entry on chrisaldrich's post, only hentry
#
aaronpk
oh for real
#
aaronpk
is "invitee" one of the backcompat properties then?
#
gRegorLove
hm, didn't think so
#
gRegorLove
Might be a weird edge case since they're `u-invitee h-card`, so it parses as a new child context.
#
gRegorLove
Which I think is a bug
#
@teleclimber
I am very excited about webmentions and what is hopefully the future of social and *open* web.

Nice to uncover bugs though.
#
[chrisaldrich]
[eddie] I considered doing that, but the wiki had some thoughts on doing it from an RSVP. Folks shouldn't RSVP reply to my RSVP but directly to the event in any case. May need to think how to best make this happen from a UI perspective.

[chrisaldrich] ohhh interesting, I guess I’ll need to read through the RSVP. I guess if that becomes a common thing, a Micropub client when evaluating a reply to an RSVP could also allow you to “RSVP” to the event in the u-in-reply-to, essentially making it easier to also RSVP to the same event
#
[eddie]
Actually that makes a lot of sense, because if I see in my reader that someone RSVPd to an event, it should give me the option to RSVP to the same event
