↩️ Best part is I stumbled into build a working blog. Just added an h-feed and suddenly my @glitch blog shows up in people's readers.. And it's all in the HTML... Collecting all the webmentions but haven't made a comment display (Need to learn first). (https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/s/wMTjR)

Ohh and for discovery @schmarty brought webrings back and is hosting an MVP on @glitch. I tried the Ghost blog. It is one button push. Reached out to @realguerillo to find out how he added cool stuff like webmentions and h-feed to his Ghost blog. (https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/s/1r51hn)

Location. I need to push a Micropub update, but I got it working in testing.
#
GWG
I just pushed a major location update and stuck the Micropub query in

↩️ You have always been a thought leader. Any chance of adding webmentions to Etsy? Bs cool to encourage artists to blog about work on their own domain while hosting products on users. Plus they can see who talks about their products. (https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/s/B8PZO)

[tantek] I think in my tech class I can get away with no CMS and them learning to build and style a website throughout the class using HTML...and I could never build a CMS.
#
[tantek]
[jgmac1106] it's not that there's no CMS. It's that you're using Glitch *as a* CMS
#
[jgmac1106]
okay good point, but they could do the same thing in a text editor and upload to GitHub, just an online text editor..well and using their storage for photos..I have no idea how to handle that..don't want to learn

#
[jgmac1106]
@kisk21 how would a reply post with -u-reply-of be different, webmentions.io would handle that and generic mentions
#
[tantek]
[jgmac1106] there is no -u-reply-of. The correct class name is u-in-reply-to
#
[jgmac1106]
ah sorry so @kisik21 do you mean like a native comment
#
kisik21
what is reply context
#
Loqi
A reply context is the display of what a reply post is in reply to, including linking to that original post with in-reply-to markup, showing some amount of that original post like author name, icon, summary / ellipsed content, and datetime published https://indieweb.org/reply-context
#
kisik21
[jgmac1106]: @jgmac1106, I'm not talking about comments here
#
[jgmac1106]
ahh yeah read on #indieweb, many people just store the p-suummary or a character count or just a link with h-cite
#
kisik21
but should I retrieve maybe updated reply context data or should I permanently archive it?
#
kisik21
(marked up as h-cite though)
#
kisik21
my site is able to render full h-entry reply context
#
[jgmac1106]
"retrieve maybe updated reply context" is your site also going to be a social reader? if so you will be updating..really just whatever you want to do on your site, no correct answer
[kevinmarks] joined the channel
#
[tantek]
IMO archiving at time of (your) post is good enough, as long as you link to the original thing you're replying to, people can click through and discover any updates if necessary
swentel and iasai joined the channel
#
[eddie]
Yeah, I agree. I think archiving at time makes sense because that is what you are actually replying to

Wait hang on, is that dom to graphql [cleverdevil]
#
[cleverdevil]
Such a cool idea and seems like a nice implementation.
#
[grantcodes]
Ha ok, what's the reason to not just use the dom though?
#
[cleverdevil]
Seems like the answer to that is "for fun." 😉
#
[grantcodes]
fair enough 😛
#
[grantcodes]
I did think about using graphql for my site but mf2 didn't seem like it would map well to graphql with my limited knowledge
#
KartikPrabhu
what is graphql
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "graphql" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "graphql is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
[grantcodes]
GraphQL is a query language for APIs and a runtime for fulfilling those queries with your existing data. GraphQL provides a complete and understandable description of the data in your API, gives clients the power to ask for exactly what they need and nothing more, makes it easier to evolve APIs over time, and enables powerful developer tools.
#
Loqi
ok, I added "https://graphql.org/" to a brand new "See Also" section of /GraphQL https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=54910&oldid=54909

Something like this specific to MF2 would be really neat.
#
[cleverdevil]
A web service for querying MF2 websites with GraphQL.
#
[cleverdevil]
(Note: I didn't say it would be useful, just that it would be cool!)
#
[tantek]
[cleverdevil] Perhaps add that to /GraphQL#Brainstorming?

the technical part wasn't really a problem

yeah I dumped the 2nd sentence and dupe
#
[tantek]
what's GraphQL's relevance to the indieweb? grantcodes can you edit the dfn to make it clear how GraphQL is relevant to the indieweb (what projects use it) or if not, to silos, or if not, note no use so far?

tl;dr replace 2 fields first&last with just "full name", if you also need a short name for prominently displaying e.g. on a conference badge, additionally ask for "preferred name"
