What changed?

I suspect a WordPress update

GWG
The IndieAuth update, most likely
#
[Rose]
That seems highly plausible.
#
[Rose]
The question is, what should I do to fix it?
#
GWG
Do you have the Indieweb plugin installed?
#
GWG
If so, set the single author property in it to your primary user
#
GWG
I will think about what else triggers that
#
[Rose]
It's set as a single author site and the author is myself, I tried changing the "use url from profile" to off but no improvement
#
[Rose]
*, that might explain some of it
#
Zegnat
If you want to know for sure what Aperture is seeing from WP, see if you can extract the token. Then do the verification step to your token endpoint manually to inspect your `me`
#
[Rose]
I'll do that once I get to work.
#
[Rose]
I'm curious as to when it changed though.

!tell Zegnat I did syndicate a thread before, and I saw aaronpk doing it too, so I did it again the same way. It was mostly because I wanted the twitter-attention a thread could make over a linked blogpost.

well I just totally broke my Known site and can't install my backups, those are broken too now....oh well myabe I will get some work done
#
jeremycherfas
Yikes. How did you manage that [jgmac1106] ?
#
Zegnat
Sounds like you now know what you have to do this weekend
#
jgmac1106
no idea, you can see what I was doing in #knownchat
#
jeremycherfas
Heading there now.

jgmac1106
just trying to uopdate to latest build so I could have tinymce 5, once composer updated all the dependancies I threw a 500 error, I then installed my back up and still get fatal flae
#
[jgmac1106]
i will go back a few versions of my backups and see if one will work..I didn't blog too much yesterday won't lose that much content
#
Zegnat
Your DB should be untouched, especially with the PHP errors you put in #knownchat
#
Zegnat
So you shouldn’t have to rollback the DB, which means you shouldn’t be losing any content

almost opened up an issue on XRay but got myself stuck in a GH/wiki loop regarding h-event with u-featured
#
jeremycherfas
Hmmn. Yes, of course. But which test ...
#
aaronpk
doesn't matter
#
[schmarty]
aaronpk: would you consider supporting u-featured on h-event for XRay? it seems to be supported for h-entry according to https://github.com/microformats/h-entry/issues/14
#
Loqi
[sknebel] #14 tracking: upgrade u-featured property to "Draft" status
#
aaronpk
[schmarty]: I think that makes sense, is there any discussion about it for events yet?
#
[schmarty]
i've been using u-featured on h-event posts for a representative image for a while but i am having trouble tracking down discussion about it.
#
jeremycherfas
Great! Works fine. Thanks aaronpk
#
[schmarty]
http://microformats.org/wiki/h-event doesn't mention featured, or images at all, and the one reference to the word "photo" is in reference to attendee h-cards.
#
Loqi
[Tantek Çelik] h-event is a simple, open format for events on the web. h-event is often used with both event listings and individual event pages. h-event is one of several open microformat draft standards suitable for embedding data in HTML. h-event is the microfor...
#
aaronpk
and that even has reasoning for not using "photo"
#
[schmarty]
phew, i should have looked there first. 😅
#
[schmarty]
oh lol i'm already on that page noting support for featured image: https://indieweb.org/event#Marty_McGuire
#

excitement! i use XRay as a lib on my site builder so i'mma update that right quick.
#
GWG
aaronpk, jsonfeed photos should be arrays?
#
aaronpk
The photo property in the XRay response is always supposed to be an array
#
[schmarty]
GWG: https://jsonfeed.org/version/1 says that the `image` and `banner_image` are optional single string values.
#
[schmarty]
and multiple images should appear in `content_html`
#
GWG
I always make photo an array now

[schmarty] on phone now and do not have my GitHub logged in, but I think there is an issue about extending h-event with h-entry properties. Maybe that can extend to featured too.
#
[schmarty]1
zegnat: there are some related issues but none specifically about pulling h-entry properties into h-event as far as i saw: https://github.com/microformats/h-event/issues
#
Loqi
[Zegnat] Does it become significantly harder to change properties after “flipping the switch”? If so (I am not fledged in the Microformats processes) we might need to do some changes to h-event first. The current draft specification does not adress usi...

all Twitter hashbang permalinks simply redirect to the home page

I want to believe this is (still/just) Smugmug acquisition / backend transition pains.
#
aaronpk
they did recently move everything to an entirely new cloud
#
[tantek]
They're moving everything from the custom backend / ops of Yahoo/Flickr to AWS
#
[snarfed]
re today, standard disclaimer applies, nothing has 100% uptime
#
aaronpk
that's recent enough that i'm not surprised that there are still rough spots
#
[tantek]
It *should* theoretically be *much* cheaper to operate and easier to scale dynamically
#
[tantek]
right aaronpk, that was my thinking. any transition that big is likely to have hiccups for at least a few months while they sort out 1/1000 type events (which can still cause massive impact on that many users / requests)
#
aaronpk
building JSON strings by hand 😱
#
[tantek]
the natural end point for all side file streaming
#
[tantek]
what you mean people aren't outputting RSS/Atom by making DOM calls to generate an XML tree?!?
#
aaronpk
i was trying to add a file to a jekyll blog that has all the posts as JSON, and was trying to build up objects in jekyll and use an actual JSON stringify function, and couldn't get it to work
#
aaronpk
ended up being easier to make an HTML page, add microformats, and run it thru a microformats parser to get the JSON I need
#
KartikPrabhu
[tantek]: hey I make my Atom from the mf2 ;)
#
[tantek]
because HTML parsing is more forgiving / has better error recovery than JSON Parsing -> always output HTML for your data, and let the parser be smarter and generate JSON for you
#
[tantek]
except when you need to output custom things in the side file feeds because feed consumers are picky about what content goes where
#
[tantek]
which reminds me
