gRegorLove: Zegnat left you a message 4 days, 18 hours ago: just saw your discussions on IE compatibility. Specifically re "Edge uses Chromium now, right?" The answer is yes AND NO. Officially there are 2 stable versions of Edge, one running Chromium and one running EdgeHTML. We ran into problems with that at work recently, because we support Edge and *thought* we were testing Edge. Turned out we were not testing both Edge.

In the brainstorming section I made some notes (last year, oof) about some possible mf2 I might use. Haven't implemented that though.
#
gRegorLove
Ah, just read the #microformats chat that you mean references

!tell [gRegorLove] thanks, tbh that's on the list as well. Plus any prior thoughts on similar layouts are always useful

gRegorLove++ this is really interesting, particularly as I'm already doing some of this stuff e.g. I surface cross-links within my site using webmentions (it's a new thing so not really "there" yet; it works and is fully tested, I'm just struggling with the whole "sending webmentions" bit right now πŸ˜„ )
#
[Murray]
The idea of site-to-site related posts though is neat

hirusi[m]
is this correct markup?
#
hirusi[m]
<p class="u-like-of">Liked <a class="u-url" href="{{likeOf.link}}">likeOf.link</a>.</p>
#
sknebel
no. just put the u-like-of where you now have the u-url
#
hirusi[m]
Oh okay, so the u-url is only in cases where I have the author's info?
#
hirusi[m]
(and then nesting it like above)
#
sknebel
if you had a nested h-cite, yes
#
sknebel
(or other nested thing)
#
hirusi[m]
The wiki also has a `p-summary` above the `u-like-of` -- is that important?
#
hirusi[m]
Or does have h-entry > u-like-of work?
#
hirusi[m]
versus h-entry > p-summary > u-like-of
#
sknebel
microformats properties do not nest without an h- object in one of them, so for the u-like-of it doesnt make a difference
#
sknebel
the p-summary gives clients seeing the post something to show as a textual representation if they need it
#
sknebel
I recommend putting some snippets into a parser like http://php.microformats.io/ and see what happens

What is Wikipedia Chain?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "Wikipedia Chain" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "Wikipedia Chain is ____", a sentence describing the term)

@sferik
I co-authored the open source Ruby library for Twitter (https://github.com/sferik/twitter). It has 4.3k stars on GitHub and has been downloaded 11 million times. I’d love to update the library for Twitter API v2 but I’ve been denied access to even see the documentation. I guess I won’t. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ https://twitter.com/jack/status/1293687636675223552 https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EfRIORLU8AEsdXl.jpg

Regarding related posts mentioned above: One could maybe precompute the related posts as part of the last minute checks before a post goes live on its permalink. The author could also see the proposed related items, and decide if it's a good fit or not. That would make site latency a non-issue and as authors have better control, it might be interesting to more authors.

One could integrate the recommendation engine to one's indiereader. That would generate an effective and up-to-date whitelist

I realized pretty quickly that I wanted the same URL canonicalization/verification code on my own backend to validate things

I'll refactor my PR to omniauth-indieauth now to use this instead

Any advice out there on best blog platform to use if you are looking to incorporate webmentions? Currently on Jekyll, and I dig the static site scene, but handling webmentions there is a pain in the butt. #indieweb
