anyone here have any experience with https://svgmap.org/ ? like using it to display a map of posts (or checkins, travel etc.) on your site?

What is the concensus on hosting one's own DNS; I run Technitium as a DNS sinkhole at home (though I need to fix it, but that's another story), and I've got some space offered to me in a datace ter by a friend of mine, and he's fine with me running my own DNS from there, since there is enough DDOS protection in the datacenter itself, but another friend of mine is stating how it's too risky and how I shouldn't do it.

I think it’s not a majority of folks who manage their own DNS servers.

What is admintax?
#
Loqi
πŸ”§ admin tax is all the time you spend maintaining your personal site, rather than actually using it (like to create posts) https://indieweb.org/admintax

I used to
#
aaronpk
but then the admin UI on Linode got good enough that it was easier to just use that
#
aaronpk
the main reason I used to was because I wanted to be able to do changes faster than I could on the old web UIs from various providers, and have APIs to do things like dynamic DNS

but this was like 15 years ago so things are different now
