That faircamp reccomendation/link to the music wiki has got me down a whole new path

The other media hosting tip is that if you use a creative commons licence, you can upload audio and video to the Internet Archive and embed it from there, so they are providing the bandwidth.

[preview] [Jonathan Schofield] Just once in a while I’d like to hear of something being launched that sounds great and when I arrive at its web presence find that it’s been done right. Sadly, https://www.thenerve.news greets me as another endeavour done depressingly badly in ...

Ive just been reading the docs of faircamp a little, got some excitement from my friend whos a small producer in 🇳🇿 , Ive basically decided that this is the right sized solution for his needs
#
[morganm]
I love the list of principles that faircamp lists, that its a codeberg project with decent amounts of interest and stars and stuff, this feels like a ripe tomato in a garden, just right

I can definitely ask him "give me your directory of audio files" as an ask, set it up for him, and show him a path for continued maintenance

Has there ever been a discussion for indicating that the linked relation was your internet identity but is no longer?
#
capjamesg
(i.e. "rel="was me")
#
capjamesg
I was thinking about this in the context of linking to something that you used to but no longer use/own.
#
capjamesg
Maybe it doesn't need to be marked up at all but I thought I'd put it on the record anyway.
#
[tantek]
capjamesg, I think the workaround for that is to link to the Internet Archive version with rel=me
#
[tantek]
as of the last date that it "was" you
#
capjamesg
That makes sense.

what is was
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "was" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "was is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
[tantek]
not a bad idea capjamesg. like a place to move dead silo profiles to
#
[tantek]
what is elsewhere
#
Loqi
elsewhere is a common IndieWeb building block, both on homepages for linking to other aspects of your identity elsewhere, and on posts for linking to copies of your posts elsewhere https://indieweb.org/elsewhere
#
capjamesg
Also potentially old Fediverse accounts you used.

The discussion of “no longer me” has come up a couple of times. The wish for rel=“not me” has been brought up. A “was” would be helpful as well.
#
[social]
I nearly always read rel=“prerender” as “pretender”, which would actually be very helpful as well.

I got into a battle with X when I shut my account and they reopened it and I shut it again and wrote to support about the issue. That got me permanently suspended.
