LLM traffic << Iocaine (https://iocaine.madhouse-project.org/) is MIT-licensed open source software for detecting unwanted traffic, typically [[GenAI]] scrapers, and responding with trash.
#

ok, I added "Iocaine (https://iocaine.madhouse-project.org/) is MIT-licensed open source software for detecting unwanted traffic, typically [[GenAI]] scrapers, and responding with trash." to the "See Also" section of /large_language_model_traffic https://indieweb.org/wiki/index.php?diff=106230&oldid=106070

and there you go, presto, documented on the most relevant page for the topic for now. if multiple people start using it with their own sites then we can create a separate page with a longer description, subsections etc.
#
crowdersoup
looks like Iocaine was already on that page under "Tools to combat"
#

Hmm. My search turned up empty when it was mentioned on Mastodon, but it's there now. Good thing, because my IndieLogin is still broken!
#
rossabaker
I can see from my logs that the IndieLogin request is being served my homepage instead of Iocaine trash, but it's still failing to find any valid rel="me". I'm clean on indiewebify.me. I'm trying to figure out how to run the Mf2 parser locally, but I'm not a PHP person.
#
rossabaker
I got it running in "php -a". I have https://indieauth.com/auth as my authorization_endpoint, which I think is causing indielogin.com to abandon parsing my rel=me. And I think IndieAuth has a different set of supported providers.

indieauth.com looks like it finds your GPG and GitHub sign in options

i wonder, are there any known "micropub from scratch" devlogs? i am sort of stuck on my own implementation and curious if someone has something where they document their own struggles and solutions
#
gRegor
They're several years old, but there were some micropub-in-one-session sessions at IWC. I recall one at /2018/Baltimore
#
rossabaker
This has been an odyssey. I had to allow list a separate IP for IndieAuth's requests, which are also eaten by Iocaine.
#
rossabaker
It was not showing me my PGP key, and I've deprecated my GitHub account. I added a GitHub rel=me to my <head>, at which point I could see both GitHub _and_ the PGP option.
#
rossabaker
Since indieauth.com is deprecated, and since everything I use supports IndieLogin.com, I removed the authorization_endpoint.
#
rossabaker
At _that_ point, I have my choice of Codeberg or Bluesky.
#
gRegor
Makes sense. yeah look like indielogin.com finds your Codeberg and bsky
#
rossabaker
My Bluesky is from Bridgyfed, and doesn't work.
#
rossabaker
And Codeberg is asking for a terrifying looking scope: "If you grant access, it will be able to access and write to all your account information, including private repos and organizations."
#
gRegor
that doesn't sound right
#
rossabaker
> "Scopes are not implemented for OAuth2 tokens and they can be used to execute any actions on behalf of the user..."

You know what... the email option for IndieLogin.com works great now that I've added a rel=me there!

gRegor: that 2018 talk seems helpful, thanks

i hadn't considered i could just store the request body as a json file, independently from rendering to html :P

I have added mobile support to my nav! CSS-only/modern-CSS is really complicated and annoying. But I did it.

got a bunch of progress in on my micropub stuff (even though I should be sleeping x3)

for a while i was conflating "store the post somewhere" with "render the post to html" and putting the cart before the horse

Carrvo - curious, did you manage to keep it accessible? I'm told it's hard to do mobile menus that are accessible with just CSS.

Does anyone know of a basic micropub endpoint + website project that could be used for a local demo of a micropub endpoint?
#
[aciccarello]
I'm thinking something you could run locally, sign into with a local micropub client (omnibear) and show that posts get created. Doesn't have to be fancy.
#
itskalvaxus
[aciccarello]: Not really.. But I'm curious to follow along with your findings.

Right now I've been running my site locally + my micropub server but that's overkill for a demo. And I'd like there to be something other people could reproduce.
#

I thought there was a minimal PHP one out there, similar to a one-file IndieAuth setup, though I don't remember the name and can't seem to find it.
#
gRegor
what is selfauth
#
Loqi
selfauth is a single user authorization endpoint written as single-file PHP without a database https://indieweb.org/selfauth
#
gRegor
That's the indieauth one I was thinking of

rose: I am not yet focused on accessibility for multiple reasons so probably not. However, if you are interested there are patterns to follow and we have a particularly knowledgeable member artlung (and he runs a FrESH session).

What is accessibility?
#
Loqi
Accessibility is key to designing web sites in an inclusive manner, lowering barriers to information, interaction, and communication, to make the web accessible to people with disabilities, and sometimes a literal site path (/accessibility) for a website accessibility statement; the IndieWeb community encourages both accessible events & personal sites https://indieweb.org/accessibility

What is FrESH?
#
Loqi
🎨 Front End Study Hall (sometimes abbreviated as FrESH) is an HTML and CSS focused IndieWeb popup meeting focused on markup, styling, design, layout, and accessibility in a loose format where participants come to learn and teach https://indieweb.org/FrESH
