Wondering how easy carddav and caldav are to write code for

Did someone create conversion code to h-event?

The other way round exists

[KevinMarks]: I am trying a self hosted Caldav and Carddav server and wondering how to integrate it

they're not too bad to parse - they're key:value pairs as text, so you fetch an event or card and the properties map pretty closely
#
[tantek]
uh, they're kind of a big mess in practice, with vendors using tons of vendor-specific properties
#
[tantek]
iCal especially is such a mess that interop is still buggy across major vendors
#
[tantek]
"not too bad" <-- they're much worse than RSS parsing and that's quite bad
#
[KevinMarks]
Recurring events are a nightmare, yes. What I meant was the mappings to h-event and h-card are relatively clear as we defined the less idiosyncratic properties on our side
#
[KevinMarks]
the hCard and hCalendar take the schemas of each pretty much directly; h-card and h-event build on what we learned after doing that in practice

It would mostly be a read only affair

I've been talking about accessibility for a few months and kind of πŸ“ˆ having wins and then πŸ“‰ down moments of reality checks and stuff
#
[morgan]
https://adrianroselli.com/2025/12/you-cant-make-something-accessible-to-everyone.html I think this mans general approach and framing is one of the more realistic and healthy approaches
#
[morgan]
The most enlightening experience was finding that I made the same mistake navigating a particular websites information structure and labels of info as my friend who is operating via screen reader and keyboard without any sight. Basically it was an accessibility issue, but not the kind I thought it was at first as investigated an issue

Hey all. I finished my terribly vibe–coded app just to have something up to post to. Now I'm gonna start completely from scratch for version 2. I am using the Astro framework, which serves everything as html & css only, which I like.

Hit enter on accident. Anywho, yea. It's acerbicinq.com if anyone's interested. I'll definitely be asking frontend questions, mostly javascript-related. πŸ™‚

No notes. Your experimenting, learning, doing it openly , you are about to learn more excited for ya

Cool that you got your album of music into your site, like some of the core stuff works, but definitely 🚧 construction signs are fitting for this kind of thing as it grows
#

[morgan]: Aww, thank you so much!
#
[morgan]
Astro is pretty good for like learning what's out there so not really big opinions there
#
[morgan]
Once you dip into it you might find you want to swap it out for a different static site generator but it's a good path
