Is this not valid MF2? `<article class="h-entry e-content">`. Do I need to move the .e-content to a lower div?
#
[tantek]
it is valid but doesn't mean what you think it means.
#
[tantek]
once you look into nested objects it becomes clear
#
[tantek]
e.g. <span class="p-author h-card"> = an author property on ancestor object that has a value of an embedded h-card
#
[tantek]
thus <span class="e-content h-entry"> = e-content on ancestor object that has a value of an embedded h-entry itself
#
[tantek]
whether or not you need an explicit e-content depends on the existing markup you are using
#
itskalvaxus
Ahh.. yeah, that offers more flexibility then. So 'root' things like h-entry and h-card need to live on their own (unless you intend on embedding)
#
[tantek]
e.g. this page uses an h-feed with h-entry children with no explicit e-content and yet works just fine through implied name properties: https://tantek.com/daylists (view source)

<h2 id="your-mask" class="p-name">Your Mask</h2>

#

<br>[... more content ...]

aaronpk
i definitely encourage dumping sample HTML into one of the online parsers and see what comes out
#
itskalvaxus
Yep, I used pin13 and it only got name and publish date.
#
itskalvaxus
[tantek]: So maybe leaving e-content and then all of the h-entry is "the whole thing" ..
#
[tantek]
yes it is possible to do that if your markup is simple enough

i thought the "content" property could not be implied, so you'll never end up with a "content" property unless you explicitly have an e-content class
#
itskalvaxus
Yeah, computer says no. When testing with the parser, I have to go with this..
#
itskalvaxus
```
#
itskalvaxus
<article class="h-entry">
#
itskalvaxus
<h2 id="your-mask" class="p-name">Your Mask</h2>
#
itskalvaxus
<div class="e-content">
#
itskalvaxus
<br>The tears under your mask
#
itskalvaxus
<br>[... more content ...]
#
itskalvaxus
</div>
#
itskalvaxus
<blockquote class="dt-published">2004</blockquote>
#
itskalvaxus
</article>
#
itskalvaxus
```
#
[tantek]
correct aaronpk. however the absence of a content property MUST NOT pose a problem for consuming implementations
#
[tantek]
per the all properties are optional design principle of mf2
#
[tantek]
for the dt-published I suggest using <time> instead since that's more precisely semantic
#
[tantek]
for typical h-entry consuming implementations, a p-name ought to be "enough" to provide a "good enough" UX
#
itskalvaxus
I see it now with your daylists. But for my content, since it's a poem, the title and content are both important. And it looks like, at least the pin13 parser, picks up your content as name, but I'm manually setting it with p-name
#
itskalvaxus
But for short, note-like, content it would apparently be sufficient to only have h-entry
#
[tantek]
that's precisely correct

kupietz: Very interesting, even if I would prefer not put photos on Flicker anymore, but I like the approach on this. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing the list of CMS. I am aware of most of them. I was more curious to get your personal experience on some of them regarding my specific case, but I will investigate this inventory. 🙂

hmmm, wanting to try and add "split galleries" for posts on my site (see: twitterlikes when multiple images, but also discord to some extent)

i'm also wanting to add thumbnailing but i haven't designed a system for that before :P
#
ulhar4409
maybe the most "simple stupid" approach would be to give each upload a corresponding thumbnail fit into a 512^2 box
#

(i do have imagemagick on the server, that'll probably cover my scaling needs)

!tell tantek Don't know if this will be of any use to you, especially as it's very WP-specific, but I went ahead and pulled out my Flickr gallery code: https://gist.github.com/kupietools/c45a07aef7888e47a13097b6b8966ee5

Loqi
Ok, I'll tell them that when I see them next
#
[tantek]
clever stuff. that code definitely has some good clues regardless of language or CMS.
