Amiga demo from 1985 starts with the acronym "WIMP" (windows, icons, mouse, pulldown menu) which I'd never heard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl6092fMkZY

I haven't watched that in a few years but I think Englebart actually uses the words "graphical user interface" and "GUI" in it, unless my memory is utterly broken.

Also more unnecessary .well-known garbage. This has nothing to do with h-feed or even similar approach

They haven't agreed a format for content, which seems like a big gap

I am waiting for a USB 2 to micro USB converter today.

[KevinMarks] like RDF folks, can't take them seriously when they work on the meta before the (plant-based) meat
#
[tantek]
[Sophia_wood] like a cable or adapter? Have so many of those cables. Feels like a thing to ask a neighbor for, like flour or sugar
#
[Sophia_wood]
adapter - we even ran over to the camera and other stores - no one had one.

I sorted all mine by type last month and they're all in a big box now. Some are very odd because every small gadget is usb charged, but they still have tip and ring connectors on the gadget.

[KevinMarks]: How do you keep them organized?

lol cable sorting is getting into #indieweb-random territory
#
[tantek]
Unless y'all start talking about making your own cables 😂
#
[snarfed]1
definitely then 😆
#
aaronpk
does anyone here publish a list of all their USB cables on their website? :D
#
[KevinMarks]
hah, that would be a project
#

I was hoping someone wrote a blog post

Part of me wishes I had a web app for cataloguing my cables.
#
capjamesg
I'd like to be able to take a photo of a cable and add a note to say where it is. The app should automatically identify each cable based on its head.
#
capjamesg
I'm not sure I'll ever get around to building this though 🙃
#
[KevinMarks]
That sounds like the app in Makers for finding stuff in a shared house

well, that's a viewer for a URL so it's like unmung or something

I have a page listing all my garden pages by most recently updated, which also becomes an atom feed (since atom has a field for modified date). But for both, each page only has a single entry, even though that entry moves to the top of the list whenever it's modified date changes.
#
thepaperpilot
I'm wondering, for the page itself if I create a micro format feed with entries, would readers tend to pick that up correctly? Or would they not expect the order to change and/or ignore the modified date changing

I expect different web feed consumers to act differently by default though some may have user prefs to alter that
#
[tantek]
divergent enough to not make it a concern when publishing that is. order things on your page in the order that makes sense to you for displaying them

[artlung] or is it today [artlung]1 (?) following up on a conversation from late last month https://chat.indieweb.org/dev/2025-12-23/1766520597852600
#
btrem
I've been looking through the drupal date_ical module. I think I've found one place where maybe I can fix the location to work better (for me, at least). But I don't know how much time I want to spend on it, given it's apparent limitations. This might not be the right place for this conversation, in which case I'm happy to take it to a private chat or email or whatever.

For others new to this discussion, it's how to get a subscribeable (sp?) calendar on a members only community website. It's arguably not indieweb, since it's not for my personal use. More like indieweb adjacent, in that it's an attempt to use indieweb principles at a small multi-user stage.

gRegor++ I was wondering if it made more sense to ditch date_ical and instead generate h-event markup, then convert that to ics. And noticed the comment you made last week referencing your project that does just that.

#

what is mf2 to ical
#
Loqi
ICS (AKA iCal or iCalendar file / feed) is a format for calendar files (a form of feed file) used by many programs such as Apple Calendar and Google Calendar, and can be used to share and subscribe to calendars across different systems https://indieweb.org/mf2_to_ical
#
btrem
Can one use webcal to subscribe to a mf2-to-iCalendar?
#
gRegor
The subscribe link on https://gregorlove.com/calendar/ uses mf2 to ical to deliver the ICS
#
gRegor
I've used it "in the wild" a bit as well, on some work projects
#
btrem
I might give that a whirl. I might lose some abilities that a native Drupal project might offer, but it might be good enough for me. And might be a lot easier than trying to fix the module that exists.
