morganwebdev Im thinking of changing my hugo theme and keeping some of the same styling and animation I have on my personal site. Curious if anyone has much experience changing to a new hugo theme or reccomend one for a personal site

[aciccarello] I only have a little experience with Hugo. I like how "batteries included" it is but I was totally lost by how the themes worked. Seemed like themes weren't all portable.

ruecharli hiya! im trying to make a contact form on a static site so im using a html form and web3forms. everything works fine except that after submitting the form, web3forms redirects to a silly "submitted successfully" page and nothing in the docs is actually working for me when i try to turn it off ;-; any ideas?
#
ruecharli <input type="hidden" name="redirect" value="..."> does nothing, the provided js does nothing, etc

gRegor I'm not familiar with Web3Forms, but might double check that the JS is loading and running properly I found https://docs.web3forms.com/how-to-guides/html-and-javascript after that `e.preventDefault()` you could use `console.log` lines to log some messages in the browser dev tools console, e.g. `console.log('submitted')`

[Trevor_Morris] Yeah, looking at the docs it says the hidden input doesn't work with JS forms - https://docs.web3forms.com/getting-started/customizations/redirection#redirect

ruecharli gRegor IT WORKED!!! turns out i just made some simple syntax errors (as usual) and the console logs helped me narrow it down :3

ruecharli yeah ........

[social] I was trying to figure out which of the 4 or 5 definitions of Web3 they were thinking they were using.
#
[capjamesg] We should be in the Web4(U) era now 😄

[tantek] in reading their list of features, I'd say it'd be more accurate to call them Web2Forms or FSAAS — Form Submission As A Service: https://web3forms.com/features

#
[pcarrier] OK so my take: web 2.0 is when a few websites took over as the distribution platform for everyone's content, when a small minority technical enough built their own website before.

morganwebdev Im working on a feature for my personal website, where you can record Metal Gear Solid style codec recordings or at least themed like that. The hard part has been figuring out the audio dictaphone on the web. It handles permissions, records the clip, allows you to play it back and delete, and then I set up a Netlify form to allow people to submit their recordings to me direct. Been kinda in a hyper focus mode for a day or so.
#
morganwebdev Anyways, this is a minimum viable feature Im working on, for the dictaphone, and then I want to style it like Metal Gear Solid. Im looking for general wisdom when it comes to handling permissions, audio, or anything really

morganwebdev I want to share the netlify link but I will consider doing that directly, its such an uncommon pattern I dont expect spam, but maybe an odd unsolicited dictation could occur hah
#
morganwebdev Thanks in advance any insights into experience particularly with audio on the web

[aciccarello] That sounds really cool. Hopefully that works well. The API endpoint seems like the riskiest part since it seems like arbitrary files could be involved but maybe not.
