as much as I dislike it, it seems POSSEing events to FB is still a big help to getting people to HWC
#
tantek
perhaps a similar effect is true with meetup.com
#
tantek
I think others use that for HWC?

What is meetup.com?
#
Loqi
Meetup.com is an event silo for creating and/or finding small gatherings in your local community who share your interests, sometimes used by some Homebrew Website Club cities to organize local HWC meetups, acquired in 2017 by WeWork https://indieweb.org/meetup.com
#
gRegorLove
Maybe document which HWCs use it on there^?
#
gRegorLove
Or on /HWC I guess
#
tantek
yeah I don't remember who POSSEs to Meetup and why
#
tantek
but yes, should be documented on /meetup.com#POSSE

I’ve officially put in for my time off of work to participate remotely in IWS. Wish I could be there in person but tricky things are tricky 🙂 so for now Remote will have to do

here is another session I just had after talking to [sknebel] “How to debug for the beginner” I don’t want slow down folks on bug fixes with bad info but we have no resources to point people to when devs say just fire up yoru console and tell me what you see in the debugger about Apache” or “run a quick curl test and tell me what it says” Just having a couple how-to guides for common tests you might need intermed

I love what Virtually Connecting does, its a group of people trying to bring conferences to academics in parts of the world that can't afford the cost. They pair an on the ground buddy with the virtual groups, run a chat after each keynote and make sure there are always hybrid/remote sessions going

If mastodon has rel-me now, could it work for indielogin?
#
sknebel
[kevinmarks]: probably? they require apps to register with the instance, but it seems that can be done programmatically
