Feb 23-24 still looks like the best weekend for IndieWebCamp Austin. [jgmac1106], I noticed that wasn't one of your dates on the wiki, though... If you think you might make it, could Feb 23-24 work or do you have a definite conflict?

There seems to be two dimensions to the Fediverse: 1) Compliance with an accepted Federated Protocol [ActivityPub/IndieWeb]; 2) How "open" your source code is/appears to be. Non-compliance results in shaming.

I was chatting with [eli_oat] today and we were discussing IndieWebCamp online. We were thinking about it being a melding of synchronous and asynchronous. The thought was some of the intro presentations could be pre-recorded and released at the start of the IndieWebCamp. Instead of having a "time-block" of say 4 hours where all the sessions take place, I'm wondering if (focusing completely on UX not on what tools/technology would actually allow
#
[eddie]
propose sessions and then people who are interested in the session can suggest times during a 1 day window, then the time that works for the most people becomes when that session happens.
#
[eddie]
So in that case, you might end up with a session that a bunch of people in CET are interested in happening while US people are still asleep
#
[eddie]
whereas a session where some CET and EST people are interested would be more at an appropriate time for both timezones
#
[eddie]
Does this seem completely insane? Or just something that would need to be figured out?
#
sknebel
interesting
#
sknebel
I think the latter :D
#
[eddie]
haha that's good to hear 😄
#
[eddie]
I think intros are definitely something that you want to be synchronous so everyone can get to know each other
#
[eddie]
I think demos could almost be asynchronous, except that might lead to 30 minute demos, so maybe synchronous is better for that to "wrap things up" together and keep things a bit more brief haha
#
[eddie]
Although asynchronous demos could be interesting in that people could post them on their own website
#
aaronpk
having people record a demo is even more intimidating than doing a regular demo
#
[eddie]
ohhhh true
#
[eddie]
so synchronous is better for that because it's less pressure
#
[eddie]
that makes sense, because that's what I was thinking about the intros
