↩️ like having all the archives searchable on https://chat.indieweb.org an off-record channel that isn't archived. Granted it takes a team of super nerds to run but having a wiki connected to a super smart bot its best learning workflow I have found… https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2018/11/18/cogdog-like-having-all-the-archives-searchable

The next step in getting my site #indieweb ready is to add h-entry microformat markup to the posts. https://www.benjystanton.co.uk/blog/adding-h-entry-to-the-posts-template/

@mrkdndvs we are organizing an online @indiewebcamp and we currently don't have anyone to facilitate utc+9 to 11. Not sure if interest is there in Aussie/NZ/Pacifics but would you want to get involved? (https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/s/xzbt9)

did something about the one-day-event template change?
#
aaronpk
for some reason the date is not showing up on dt-end, only the time
#
sknebel
[tantek] tried some stuff, but I thought reverted it. check the history to be sure
#
aaronpk
don't see any related changes in the history
#
aaronpk
the template is working on all events except the Organizers meetup
#
aaronpk
oh wait no it's not... I see
#
aaronpk
something is going wrong with the timezone in some of thenm
#
sknebel
the +1:00 might not be acceptable?
#
aaronpk
when a timezone is specified, it throws off the parsed result
#
sknebel
it also needs to be VCP to imply the date
#
sknebel
which it isn't
#
aaronpk
e.g. this wordcamp riverside one has a dt-end "11:00-8:00-0800"
#
aaronpk
what are we gaining by using this VCP pattern here?
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "we gaining by using this VCP pattern here" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "we gaining by using this VCP pattern here is ____", a sentence describing the term)

aaronpk
it's like jumping through a bunch of mental hoops to understand how the mediawiki template generates HTML that will be understood by the parser
#
aaronpk
the php, ruby, and python parsers all give different results for the start/end dates on that event
#
sknebel
VCP is needed to imply the date, if you want that
#
sknebel
(well, some parsers do it anyhow, but per spec you need VCP)
#
aaronpk
I mean why can't we just use <time> elements with datetime attributes here in order to spell out the full date
#
sknebel
you probably can
#
aaronpk
since we have the date, start and end times all individually, it seems silly to combine them into some sort of clever HTML since it's just generated from a template anyway

okay with that new template, the parsers all get the right result, no VCP needed. it's technically duplicating information in the HTML, but I don't think that matters because it's all authored the same way by specifying the date/start/end/tz individually in just one place like before.
#
aaronpk
the wiki shows lines like this: February 24, 2016 18:30–19:30 (-08:00 UTC) (it uses a MW date formatter so we could switch back to 2016-02-24 if we wanted)
#
aaronpk
the markup it generates is <time class="dt-start dtstart" datetime="2016-02-24 18:30 -08:00">February 24, 2016 18:30</time>–<time class="dt-end dtend" datetime="2016-02-24 19:30 -08:00">19:30</time> (-08:00 UTC)
#
aaronpk
I personally find that much more readable than what's there right now
#
aaronpk
<span class="dt-start dtstart"><span class="value" title="November 7, 2018">2018-11-07</span> <span class="value" title="19:00">19:00<span style="display: none;">-08:00</span></span></span>
#
sknebel
aaronpk: no space before the TZ offset please, otherwise fine
#
Zegnat
Those events look really fancy! Any reason it is blending mf1 and mf2 rather than just sticking with mf2?
#
aaronpk
I didn't change anything regarding the mf1
#
Zegnat
Just idly wondering if the markup couldn’t be simplified by dropping mf1
#
aaronpk
definitely could
#
aaronpk
afaik the only thing consuming that is the h2vx converter
#
aaronpk
but looking at the ics feed it makes, it looks like it's a bit of a mess right now too
#
aaronpk
like "DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20181107T000NaNZ"
#
aaronpk
or "DTEND;VALUE=DATE-TIME:1930"
#
sknebel
yeah, I don't think that actually does anything useful

@Cambridgeport90
Can anyone be so kind as to offer some examples on web sites of ActivityPub and other examples of IndieWeb in the real world? Somebody was asking me about that last week on a GitHub Issue.

↩️ I agree with @BillSeitz on #IndieWeb @vgr a lot of of options describing what you suggest. You could do @microblogdotcom as turnkey, use a Known sight or WordPress with a bit of work, or Jekyll, or anything you heart desires to spin up. (https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/s/2bYkQu)
