Hmm. I am wondering if there is a less jargon-y way to talk about "h-card" when engaging folks about WordPress+IndieWeb
#
[schmarty]
(i feel like i've brought this up before, but here goes nonetheless)
#
[schmarty]
h-card is at least two layers of jargon deep because it's a specific vocab consumed by some things that understand microformats2
#
[schmarty]
only developers or their code actually "wants" an "h-card"
#
[schmarty]
i posit that what folks might actually want are more: being able to log in to other sites and tools using their website as their identity (typically rel=me rather than h-card) or having their content show up nicely when they respond to other people's posts (more h-entry than homepage h-card).
#
[schmarty]
the closest thing i can think is helping folks show up as they'd expect in the indieweb directory or the web

[schmarty]
*web ring directory

#

schmarty, as far as top level terminology the "Mark" and "Levels" structure is pretty common in benchmarks (hence the name) and measurements / incentivizing people to improve things.
#
[tantek]
I do think we can and should ask "how can we improve the wording of each feature and level to engage people better?"

manton awesome! ok count me in as co-organizer then and I'll get right to lots of wikifying today!
#
[schmarty]
tantek: i think i am okay with the benchmark framing for indiemark. checking the wording of individual pieces sounds like a good incremental step. re-ordering might happen after that. ;}
#
[schmarty]
indiewebify.me could stand to be reframed more around accomplishing specific user goals rather than checking benchmark boxes imo
#
[tantek]
they should be the same
#
[tantek]
that is, checking an benchmark box *should* be accomplishing specific user goals
#

then indiewebify.me definitely needs a lot of updating for better coverage of said boxes/goals
