aaronpk[rose] since I see you on the volunteer list for Düsseldorf, would you be willing to help me try out a Zoom-based remote participation setup? I am considering subscribing to three accounts for this month so we can try it out at both Düsseldorf and Utrecht. if it works well at DUS, then you can help people get set up in Utrecht since you'll be there too.
@tDuring #IndieWebCamp #Berlin I built a simple theme switcher for my site!
hyperlinks -> URL query param -> PHP to add class to <body> & query param to local links -> CSS class selectors -> CSS variables -> colors & font. No cookies, no JS. #indieweb

[Rose]The organiser can record on their machine with Zoom, but if we want higher fidelity recordings then recording your screen separately is a good idea.
[frank]Pretty cool to see IWC Utrecht featured this morning in Handpicked, in a good Dutch newsletter for entrepeneurs, developers and makers! See Loqi's bot-URL-thingie above.
[frank]Can someone explain to me what the difference in focus is in channels Meta, Chat and Indieweb? If I want to discuss some ideas and thoughts on IWC, what's the proper channel? /me thinks Indieweb?
LoqiJoin the #indieweb discussions via the web, Slack, IRC, or Matrix interfaces now with additional channels for dev, wordpress, and meta specific chat! https://indieweb.org/discuss
ZegnatAnd you’ll have a couple of people with multiple IWC experiences in Utrecht who will probably happily volunteer to help IRL as well (poking optional)
[frank]I know they have WiFi, even fiber I think. Generally, connectivity is not a big issue in the Netherlands. As long as you don't live in rural areas on the edges of the country...
[Rose]I vote for Yay on the Eurovision party, because people who don't care about Eurovision can still sit with those who do and talk about other things.
ZegnatI think sebsel said he knew of some places (though those may not have been in Utrecht). It is just nice to know if we want to do a viewing with people we know, haha
[frank]There is one thing I'd like to check with IWC-veterans that has come up, especially with the photography policy. I have a long-standing friendship with HJ Winkeldermaat (https://punkmedia.nl) a good photographer from Arnhem. He has always done some amazing photo-work at events, (tries to) blog, has sympathy for what we do. He offered to come over on Saturday to shoot pics from the event and share those with us. Most of the time he puts them on
[frank]How do you feel about a photographer coming over to make some great shots of the event? It can help to use them on the wiki for future events, maybe for your own site, maybe a new avatar pic?
[Rose]I personally have no objection. In Berlin last weekend we added stickers to people's name tags - yellow meaning "please ask before you take my picture" and red being "please don't take my picture", as I have them in the organisers box I would propose we use them again, and that the photographer be made aware of their meaning. (No sticker means photographs are good!)
[frank]Yes, I agree with the policy. I want to send him some more info later today on the how, why and what and thought I first check it here as well. I think the policy gives good boundaries and I will def share this with him.
jeremycherfas!tell [frank] Getting in to the building and rooms has been difficult at some places and for some people in the past. Good to check what access wil be like on both days.
ZegnatWe do always try and give people the option to chose not to be photographed. Berlin used red stickers for it. As long as the photographer is OK working with that, all seems good!
Zegnat[frank]: I believe the organiser kit in [Rose]’s possession has yellow and red stickers that can be put on badges to signify ask about photos and no photos respectively. But if you have a better way for people to show their photo preferences, make use of whatever you have :D
LoqiIt looks like we don't have a page for "photo preferences" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "photo preferences is ____", a sentence describing the term)
LoqiA photography policy or recording policy is an event policy to make it clear when photographing/recording is acceptable, and how attendees can communicate their preferences; IndieWebCamps are often livestreamed, and have photographers or organizers who take both informal session photos and group photos that are often published publicly https://indieweb.org/photography_policy
GWG!tell [Yulia] I'm not sure the best place to send them. We usually upload them to the Indiewebcamp Youtube account at the least. But due to the size, I'm not sure where you could put them that we could access them. There's that new Mozilla file sharing thing...can you get us a link using that?
[jgmac1106][frank] also important for your photographer to know all IWc related photos on the wiki get a public domain license. They need to be willing to give up rights
[jgmac1106]yeah meant on the wiki...good to know about the Tollwerk photos, good model, and technically the wiki can use a CC-BY-SA photo just needs to attribute and note licesnse
[frank][Zegnat] I proposed the green photobadge this weekend. But your remark earlier “no badge = OK to photograph” is one less barrier to entry. Which is better.
ZegnatIt is an opt-out vs opt-in thing. We would like to solve it through coloured lanyards in the future, everyone has one so everyone will have made a conscious choice

@t↩️ Under the hood I wanted theming that is simple & maintainble. Perhaps implicit #indieweb pragmatic design principles, since we are creating features & systems that individuals can understand & maintain, likely those with less time (e.g. future selves).

@t↩️ Prioritizing simple & maintainable is perhaps most in contrast to enterprise systems, or any system that requires a separate IT person. Minimum viable ops.
#indieweb features & systems should be as easy (easier!) to setup & maintain than smartphones (...

@ChangelingMxOne thing I’m figuring out as I become more and more #IndieWeb involved: I really don’t care about my following to follower ratio. I only need to do what pleases me, and everyone justs thinks I’m doing what pleases them. It’s the perfect relationship. (twitter.com/_/status/1126212464994062338)
