Great to hear about last weekend’s IndieWeb Summit from @tomwiththeweather at tonight’s Homebrew Website Club (aka IndieWeb Meetup). The rain let up just in time to sit outside at Mozart’s Coffee. Next meetup in Austin is August 7th.

all, today I was offered a suitable venue for IndieWebCamp Amsterdam, at CODAM.nl, in the city center. I will inspect the venue later this month for suitability (they have an auditorium for up to 120 people, and workspaces clustered around it). It’s a coding academy , open to all entry levels, and their mission fits well with IndieWeb’s. Their students are a potential group of participants as well, so we can work together on communications t

dougbeal, GWG, what's the context of "specialized"?

I assumed dougbeal meant ones that needed someone to be logged in

As in, can't just use the demo computer

But I could be wrong

[tantek]: I had a thought about the door for next year, it would be great if we could have a dedicated person who stayed downstairs during the morning check-in time
#
aaronpk
normally that's a relatively easy ask for a volunteer, but it's a little frustrating that it has to be a mozilla employee

so maybe we could see if it's possible to let a non-mozilla person do that for the morning

[tantek]
yes I'll check into the rules around that. I know we couldn't share the building badges with non-mozilla folks

alternately we could ask if they can unlock the 3rd floor elevator from 8:45am-10:15am

interesting
#
aaronpk
it's the complete opposite for me
#
aaronpk
the block-of-text method is too much information for me to skim and see the status of things
#
aaronpk
the issue-tracking method means I can check things off and they get pushed out of the way so they don't clutter the list. opening up an individual issue means I can focus on just the relevant task that i'm looking at without also seeing all the unrelated other issues

that can work well for things that can be *checked off* (most things require discussion first) that are well defined tasks. problem is that's not how planning works in practice, which usually starts with fuzzy goals, fuzzy task areas, fuzzy tasks, and eventually discrete tasks (sometimes, or you just get them done if doing them is less work than writing them down). and all of those are different shapes / sizes, and can result in splits (multip

Interesting. need to figure out some hybrid approach perhaps. if it's an issue you're completely in control of, then it makes sense to track it however is most productive for you (the general you). if it's an issue that requires collaboration, that gets more complicated

Can you have an issue that is a holding point for free form comments, and spin off more structured ones to check off?
