#LoqiZegnat: [tantek] left you a message 7 hours, 45 minutes ago: Can you make it to IWC Berlin2 23-24 November at Mozilla Berlin, and would you like to be a Code of Conduct contact again?
#ZegnatDarn. Should probably have reached out to adactio to try and set that up on the indieweb tito so we would have the records for how many attendees and so on

#[tantek]Zegnat can you start by documenting that on the wiki in the section on Tito on IndieWebCamp Organizing?
#[tantek]I think I’ve asked y’all with Tito experience to do that several times at this point. Gotta externalize that kind of info if you want it shared among organizers, otherwise every organizer will just keep doing their own thing
#[tantek]Good news is that signups are a go for IWC Brighton!
#LoqiIndieWebCamp Organizing is a great way to bring together your local IndieWeb community, yet is also quite challenging, requires co-organizers, and key details to succeed that are documented in this page https://indieweb.org/IndieWebCamp_Organizing
#[tantek][jgmac1106] [schmarty] as promised, Jeremy has setup the Tito for IWC Brighton! https://adactio.com/journal/15612 - can we get NYC Tito setup today in time for the newsletter?

#[tantek]Zegnat, other organizers, would you be able to make it to an Organizers meetup the day/afternoon before IWC Brighton? (18 October)
#[tantek]If we can get a few organizers to confirm then I’ll work with adactio to make sure we have the space
#[tantek]We’ll probably have some sort of Friday night social preparty thing too, for everyone who’s going to Brighton
#[Rose]It’s hard to say, I need to figure out flights, but usually it’s either early morning or late afternoon/evening flights.

#[calumryan]Planning to be there though weekend hotel stays in Brighton are priced highly so open to sharing a private Airbnb with some others.
#jeremycherfasI could be up for a room in an entire Airbnb
#Zegnat[calumryan], jeremycherfas, I know sknebel was also looking for possibilities to share something already. Maybe we need to put some resources together?
#[Rose]I booked a private room at the YHA in Brighton.
#ZegnatI will hopefully know Monday/Tuesday whether my leave from work has been granted, and will plan then. Currently planning on travelling Friday and Monday, but do not know yet
#Zegnat[tantek]: my problem is that ti.to experience means next to nothing as almost every event has been organised differently. Which is why I asked before if some of us together should build an event from the grounds up for the next upcoming IWC. Then we can make an actual guide.
#ZegnatBut I will add a note about trying to centralise on the indieweb account
#[tantek]Thank you. Every incremental note like that helps
#[tantek]Plus no matter how different, point is to capture the best practices so at least those are replicated
[KevinMarks] joined the channel
#[tantek]Zegnat maybe work with [jgmac1106] to do that and document while doing it for IWC NYC
#ZegnatI am just not sure anyone has agreed on the best practices. Became pretty clear that it was a convoluted mess during a call aaronpk, sknebel, and I had :P
#ZegnatYes, happy to set aside some tito admin time for that! Would prefer if we can also sync up with aaronpk who has many thoughts on organising
#[tantek]Add your opinion on best practices then and sign your name indicating it’s “just” your opinion
#Zegnat!tell [jgmac1106],aaronpk Can we try and schedule some time to setup tito for IWC NYC from scratch so we can document the indieweb-prefered method?
#ZegnatDo you need activities limited to registration cap, or tickets with registration cap. And aaronpk showed me how to do checkin lists for security at all, but I have already forgotten if that was dependent on any of those choices
#[jgmac1106]I would copy the summit and take away but will see what doing from scratch is like
#ZegnatOne of the reasons I like from scratch is that we can actually document it and reproduce even incase Tito gets wiped of all old content or whatever. Contingency plan.
#[tantek]Or copy from previous IWC NYC, fix the things we captured in the Learnings, and add anything that makes sense from Summit
#ZegnatIf your only method of creating something is by starting off duplicating something else, you can get into trouble
#[tantek]Scratch + documenting is also much more helpful to everyone else wanting to setup Tito the right way
#ZegnatThat is my thinking. And I know from our previous call on the matter that aaronpk sits on a wealth of knowledge, so would love to get him onboard too.
#[jgmac1106]first question, I make new event. I can choose two accounts->IndieWeb or IndieWebCamp..have no idea if there is a difference
#jgmac1106I wonder if same thing happens if I chose the other account
#ZegnatI am guessing you may be the sole administrator of the other account, in which case you should be allowed to do whatever you want :P But give it a go
#jgmac1106yeah but I should wait till aaronpk is around to add me to the indiewebcamp team and not the indieweb team so all the tix are together
#jgmac1106I will probably end up using more lists and adding headings for each major step or UI screen change, my website as weird stylign for lists but the wiki won’t
#ZegnatI am about to get off work so will have more time to look into it in an hour or so

#jgmac1106we should have banner images availabel on /logo to use on ti.to that are set to the correct dimensions
#jgmac1106“Banner image should be a JPEG, GIF or PNG, 900×265px (@1x) or 1800×530px (@2x) “ so we should make a banner available in that size. Anyone around to make a version from the files on /logo?

#[jgmac1106][Will_Monroe] I had people from #digped who wanted to join our Monday meetups but they are all west coasters. Can you meet at 1 EDT ? Once semester begins we will probably have to juggle everyone's class scheduels and vote again
#jgmac1106the 2019.indieweb.org/NYC/ page is not live yet will try for newsletter deadline as well. gwg, schmarty if either of you have time please feel free to take a crack at the task
#LoqiJust generated this week's newsletter! You still have a few minutes to make changes, and I'll re-generate it 10 minutes before it gets sent out at 3pm Pacific time. https://indieweb.org/this-week/2019-08-09.html
#Loqiaaronpk: jgmac1106 left you a message 1 day, 4 hours ago: another reason to upload each video to archive.org rathe than editing a single item is you do not get publication dates for files that were added after editing
#Loqiaaronpk: Zegnat left you a message 10 hours, 46 minutes ago: Can we try and schedule some time to setup tito for IWC NYC from scratch so we can document the indieweb-prefered method?
#aaronpkalso, we talked about not distinguishing between indie RSVP tickets and paid tickets anymore, I know we're going to do that for Summit next year, but do we want to do that here too?
#[tantek]for Summit we decided to charge everyone with a normal ticket
#[tantek]and only have the option to do a no-charge ticket if you self-identify as being economically disadvantaged the same way that Donut.js does it
#[tantek]aaronpk, yes per /2019/NYC they had to get different spaces for Saturday and Sunday
#aaronpkI added both as actual locations in tito so there are two pins on the map now
#[tantek]yes "7th gathering" should likely be "7th gathering in New York City"
#[tantek]I see the two pins! nice that they are close to each other
#aaronpkso my thinking is if we're going to move to the new model for charging, we shouldn't use the old model anymore in other cities
#[tantek]right - it still has all the same problems we identified
#[tantek]also I don't remember any discussion about charging in NYC so that sounds like a mistake
#[tantek]and sigh, "Guest Book" copy pasta, at least that I can fix
