aaronpk, I logged into the Indieweb Orange Zoom to schedule the meetup, do I also need to log in to that acct on my desktop to start it?
#
aaronpk
you mean instead of joining from your own zoom account or something?
#
aaronpk
i'm pretty sure one device that's logged in to that needs to be in the meeting
#
gRegorLove
hm, I may not even have a Zoom account, haha. Just noticed I haven't been logged in. Ok, that answers that.
#
aaronpk
we should probably test that to confirm at some point, but i'm pretty sure one of the "host" accounts of the meeting needs to actually be in it or people will see "waiting for the host to arrive"
#
Loqi
it is probable
#
gRegorLove
There's an option when scheduling a meeting "Alternative Hosts" where you can enter emails
#
gRegorLove
I'll give it a shot
#

ah, this was discussed in the Virtual HWC East Coast chat, but i forgot to give a link. here's my "eternal caturday" collection of little animations of my cat. i've missed a day but am trying to post one every day that we are quarantined / isolated.

It looks like we don't have a page for "TiddlyWiki" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "TiddlyWiki is ____", a sentence describing the term)

I had back-to-back meetings last night with IndieWeb Meetup NYC (my first ever Zoom conference) and the IFComp tech team. They made me feel relevant and connected, twice over. A lot of technologists committing to our best work right now. What else is there to do?

I've started a #TiddlyWiki stub on the #IndieWeb wiki for those using it as a website. It would be cool to see it add Microformats v2. I've noticed that http://Sphygm.us has hers set up with at least incoming Webmention support, which is awesome! https://boffosocko.com/2020/03/19/55769388/

aaronpk: how would you feel about having events.indieweb.org accept u-featured photos from posts that mention an event? i have my wrap-up post from last night's vHWC US East and marked up the photo u-featured. i don't want to mark it u-photo (the post is not a photo post) and am hoping not to make an extra photo post just to have it show up on the event.

[schmarty]: i thought featured photos were for like banner images above a post, not literally photos
#
aaronpk
i guess rephrasing that, my question is why do you mark it up as u-featured instead of u-photo?
#
[schmarty]
aaronpk: because it's not a photo post
#
aaronpk
can i see?
#
[schmarty]
it's a long-form post that _has_ a photo
#
aaronpk
interesting...
#
sknebel
I tihnk with something like that it is really unclear if adding the photo is intended or not
#
sknebel
so meetable shouldn't do it
#
sknebel
i.e. would you want that if you had instead put a screenshot of something you worked on in the post?
#
aaronpk
yeah i'd want to see a wide range of examples of posts with u-featured to see if it would make sense to use that property
#
[schmarty]
yeah i'm not sure if this should be supported, but i realized that it feels like twice the work to make a post for the wrap-up and a post for the photo.
#
aaronpk
i'd be worried about false positives
#
aaronpk
uploading the photo directly is of course fine too
#
[schmarty]
i'm been using u-featured for a while just for readers
#
[schmarty]
and would be fine changing the markup for meetable (as long as it doesn't break other consumers like u-photo would)
#
sknebel
even if u-photo, it needs to be a reply, not just a mention, right?
#
sknebel
(I couldn't find it documented and was to lazy to code-read)
#
[schmarty]
potentially!
#
[schmarty]
this might be a dead-end.
#
sknebel
if it currently requires a reply then your post would be 2 things "away"
#
[schmarty]
true! tho' it has enough to be a "blog post"

So let's give it a spin by providing an outline for how to accomplish it in true #IndieWeb & #DoOO fashion? Perhaps a few people might trying doing this year's conference this way? Here's an early #PressEdConf20 presentation to get the juices flowing. https://boffosocko.com/2020/03/19/55769396/

I think I agree with sknebel re: meetable / u-featured. Feels like a hard thing to get "right" without false positives
#
[tantek]
And frankly the "photo upload" option on Meetable is so simple/quick (especially on mobile) that I really don't know what problem is being "solved"
#
sknebel
one incremental thing could be a button to pull a photo from a response
#
[tantek]
Also we have a history of abuse of u-featured and u-photo by folks who were just adding classes to every photo to "make things work" so I'd suggest NOT doing anything imprecise like that
#
[tantek]
sknebel or even a URL from which to retrieve a photo. if it's a jpg, use it directly (no need to double-upload)

if the URL is an h-entry, then grab the images and allow the user to pick one to add (Pinterest style UI)

Re finishing your CMS, Jerome K Jerome's bicycle principle applies: “There are two ways you can get exercise out of a bicycle: you can "overhaul" it, or you can ride it. On the whole, I am not sure that a man who takes his pleasure overhauling does not have the best of the bargain. He is independent of the weather and the wind; the state of the roads troubles him not. Give him a screw-hammer, a bundle of rags, an oil-can, and something t

He himself always looks like a tinker, and his machine always suggests the idea that, having stolen it, he has tried to disguise it; but as he rarely gets beyond the first milestone with it, this, perhaps, does not much matter. The mistake some people make is in thinking they can get both forms of sport out of
