aaronpk, I suspect you're the only one who can unlock the "allow participants to screen share" in zoom, correct? Is that something we might safely allow now that there are enough other layers built in to prevent zoom bombing?
#
aaronpk
let me check, i thought the host could change that once you're in the meeting
#
[chrisaldrich]
I know it wasn't possible last time I did it, though that was 2 weeks ago and the settings internally look the same now.

should we make a new channel here for the micro.blog community, similar to how we have a wordpress channel?

aaronpk
i'm so confused
#
jacky
[chrisaldrich]: some clarity? lol
#
[chrisaldrich]
Ha! It's beta support. They emailed me earlier about how and where to find it, so that thread was the first test posting to Twitter and then micropub to my website.

[Chris Aldrich] ThreadReaderApp now has beta support for the Micropub Spec so you can publish Twitter threads directly to your blog
#
[chrisaldrich]
As far as I can tell they haven't announced it officially and I can't see any evidence of support from my account's dashboard.
#
aaronpk
did the indieauth login work well?
#
[chrisaldrich]
Others might find support at the secret URL: https://threadreaderapp.com/account/micropub
#
[chrisaldrich]
The indieauth was quick, simple and flawless.

They may need some tweaks to it as they go along... the post to my site was not as an article (where would they have gotten a title), but it showed up as a note.
#
aaronpk
oh interesting, there's not really a title for threads huh
#
aaronpk
what would you want the title to be? hmm
#
[chrisaldrich]
They also don't apparently have u-syndication support since I didn't get any of the syndicated copies, though I suspect they could add that.
#
aaronpk
oh that'd be fun
#
[chrisaldrich]
I manually added a title to mine and manually added the syndication targets (mostly for Bridgy backfeed).
#
aaronpk
looking at a thread I manually POSSE'd to twitter... I used part of the first tweet as the title of my blog post
#
[chrisaldrich]
They could potentially use the first tweet as the title of the "article".
#
[chrisaldrich]
I did have a small snafu on the the processing speed of the first one. I didn't quite wait for ThreadReader to unroll the entire thread so my first attempt only caught 7 of 26 tweets in the thread.
#
[chrisaldrich]
They do have a nice one button click to re-poll the thread to add other tweets in the thread to refresh it on their end.
#
[chrisaldrich]
Not sure if they're supporting edit/update on Micropub so that if one updated a thread every day that the thread could be updated on one's site. My initial tests indicate that it reposts the entirety.
#
[KevinMarks]
Neat stuff
#
[chrisaldrich]
They also do a date/timestamp of the micropub request and not the original thread post date/time.
#
[chrisaldrich]
kevinmarks++ for noterlive which inspired me to request this feature in the first place. 🙂

i didn't try posting it, but I successfully connected via indieauth
#
aaronpk
i don't have any tweets that aren't posted from my website
#
aaronpk
[chrisaldrich]: just to confirm, you're using the indieauth and micropub plugins for wordpress, nothing special with them?
#
aaronpk
when they launch this i'm sure a lot of people are going to go install those, we should make sure it's super easy to set up
#
[chrisaldrich]
aaronpk, yes my site is currently running vanilla versions of IndieAuth and Micropub plugins without any changes or tweaks that I'm aware of.
#
aaronpk
in fact, we should probably update the description of the micropub plugin instructions to push people to install the indieauth plugin. right now it's kind of buried https://wordpress.org/plugins/micropub/
#

I really don't want a rush of people using indieauth.com with their wordpress sites

I've got plans to test out some potential edge cases and variations on a test server later.

Thread about a new @ThreadReaderApp feature, allowing a person with a micropub-enabled blog to self-publish a Twitter thread as a blog post. Always psyched to see open-standard IndieWeb technologies picked up (however experimentally) by commercial services.
