Was looking at indieweb stuff again and ran into this. It's nice you can get formatted info from an h-card but unclear that it actually has significant use...

↩️ That way, I can just point my main page into some little translator and it'll make it into a RSS feed or ATOM feed. IndieWeb for the long web :)

@jackyalcine
↩️ RSS is dope but I think since it requires so much extra tooling, it's hard to work with. I've leaned on using microformats2 to give my HTML pages the same RSS-y vibes but without having to make a separate page. So much easier IMO. https://microformats.io/ + https://indieweb.org/h-feed

what is imgur?
#
Loqi
imgur is an image hosting silo that seems to ironically depend on js to show you an image, except for 48.gif https://indieweb.org/imgur

I was recently pointed to this: https://www.django-rest-framework.org/ and wondering what do folks think of updating the home page in some way perhaps at least for this week?

i was considering putting this on my home page https://github.com/trentmwillis/i-stand
#
Loqi
[trentmwillis] i-stand: A web component to embed in your personal site to show you stand with the protests against police brutality
#
aaronpk
we could add it to the indieweb.org home page too
#
jacky

#

you _might_ need a little custom CSS on it (I had to adjust the background black used, I don't use true black on my site)
#
jacky
Yeah, it's like that Custom Element stuff

AMP uses web components, right?
#
gRegorLove
what is web component
#
Loqi
It looks like we don't have a page for "web component" yet. Would you like to create it? (Or just say "web component is ____", a sentence describing the term)
#
gRegorLove
what is AMP
#
Loqi
Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) is a Google-led project that (often) speeds up a subset of HTML through caching and dependencies on Google infrastructure https://indieweb.org/AMP

gRegorLove: good question
#
gRegorLove

I thought we had a page that documented various one day blackouts
#
gRegorLove
what is one day banner
#
Loqi
one day banner is a feature on some sites where they show a banner at or near the top of the page as a call to action for something for that day in particular, like a protest or an election https://indieweb.org/one_day_banner
