We haven't in the past, but is it worth documenting silos like Gab, Parler, and similar "free speech" sites if for no other reason than to have a set of designs that are problematic and potentially should be avoided? Maybe under a heading like abuse, moderation, or something similar?
#
[chrisaldrich]
I just came across Parler last week and was a bit horrified not only by it's general demeanor, but by some of the bigger names that are apparently using it.

is Parler a mastodon fork too?
#

I know glindr is
#
[chrisaldrich]
Not sure kevinmarks, I suspect it's not though. Haven't looked very closely at it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parler
#
[KevinMarks]
gab and glindr both are
#
[chrisaldrich]
The UI screenshots I've seen are more Twitter like, so likely not a Mastodon fork.
#
[chrisaldrich]
If it is Mastodon, they've done a lot of UI work.

given the apparent funding behind Parler it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s completely bespoke and not interoperable.

Any signs of it supporting RSS/Atom/OStatus/ActivityPub/etc.?

I'll offer to spelunk in it a little bit for research purposes, but it looks completely antithetical to anything I would otherwise join. Maybe later this evening when work is done.

I'm preparing for a couple of articles and I feel they might deserve their own domains. This is making me rethink some of the other content on my site — I might simplify it and move some of it to (an)other dedicated domain(s).

!tell kevinmarks definitely worth asking https://editoy.com/app to support Micropub. They're already saying "Write once, publish anywhere. Medium, Wordpress, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, or any other blogs that support standard blog APIs such as MetaWeblog and AtomPub." If they had micropub, it would give them a lot more customers. If you make a request, I'm sure some of us would be happy to +1.
