@by_caballero the thing about indie platforms is that they're mostly serving a small Anglo/Euro elite so far. I don't have much nice to say - I wrote a whole book chapter about the fediverse a couple years ago.

I don't know what to think about indieweb. I do wonder what happens when it starts to get used by the fash to organise. Worth asking that question if you're in favour of what Twitter/Facebook are doing now. I think it's maybe just the old 'is technology neutral' question.

↩️ Right, original tweets are a separate issue from other people linking to your site like https://twitter.com/sahilparikh/status/1273497599295676416. Original tweets are omitted by design since they're considered the "same post." That's pretty generally accepted IndieWeb thinking, not Bridgy specific.

↩️ The better model is to post on your own domain and cross post to Twitter. #indieweb has been doing this for years. Many tools exist, MicroPub is a common posting spec https://indieweb.org/Micropub

I really appreciate how many people out there keep bringing up IndieWeb to the stream of solo inventors (pretty much all the exact same gender/race/age demo) pretending they’re creating something new that everyone else should come over and adopt

collecting resources seems like a good idea. i'm curious for example what writing, documentation, and communities of folks are available. like would this session be useful for folks involved with Block Together or other shared-block-list tools? for folks from http://www.crashoverridenetwork.com/ ?
#
[tantek]
Maybe (re: block together). I’d say yes as long we didn’t assume shared block lists as a complete, majority, or even first cut at solving problems
#
[tantek]
I’d prefer we try to specify / solve these problems first not assuming any need for explicit coordination like that
#
[tantek]
Eg an approach that would work for newcomers getting started that “don’t know anyone”, so they could have a positive initial and growing experience
#
