We have a couple of scripts for jf2 to html. Unmung does it relatively crudely, but fluffy's is better documented

Last night I was looking for a session on private post uis and couldn't find it
#
[chrisaldrich]
Sorry, thanks [KevinMarks] I remembered it going to jf2 not back. That's handy then. I'll have to dig around for fluffy's version.

[KevinMarks] What would one accomplish with jf2 to HTML? I had never thought about that conversion need before.
#
[snarfed]
capjamesg that's what web-based microsub readers do, right?
#
capjamesg[d]
Ah I suppose so haha.
#
capjamesg[d]
I hadn't thought of it that way.
#
capjamesg[d]
In that case, I have some very crude jinja2 templates that turn jf2 into HTML.
#

Who should I talk to about moving a repository to the indieweb/ org on GitHub?
#
capjamesg[d]
Also, how often should the chat logs be pushed to GitHub? I see the last commit was 7 days ago: https://github.com/indieweb/indieweb-chat-archive

unmung has xoxo support which turns arbitrary json into html lists and definition lists, https://github.com/PlaidWeb/webmention.js/ also turns jf2 into HTML to display jf2 output from webmention.io in web pages

ugh they're supposed to be pushed every 15 minutes or so, but if you make a change on GitHub that it's unable to merge automatically then it can't push

capjamesg[d], take a look at /to-do, there are a bunch of suggestions for new pages in there
#
[tantek]
the other thing you could do is take a look at loooooong pages that you've frequently viewed and see if they have a loooooong section that could be broken out into its own page, and leave a nicely edited/curated summary section behind

Re: distributed web blog post on /to-do that is interesting.
#
[tantek]
oh yeah, that's a lot more work
#
[tantek]
definitely not for "right before the newsletter"
#
capjamesg[d]
I was going to write something short for distributed web search but I couldn’t get into the flow.
#
capjamesg[d]
Ah I’m past my computer time for the day 😂
#
capjamesg[d]
I’ll make the jf2 changes tomorrow. That’s definitely something I want to add to since I have used jf2 quite a bit lately.
#
[tantek]
yep, was also hoping that maybe we could get jf2 to have more (non-trivial) edits that some of the other "most edited pages"
#
[tantek]
right now the top edited pages are all negative/defensive, and that's not great
#
capjamesg[d]
Yes. That isn’t great.
#
capjamesg[d]
Let me think about what I have been doing.
#
capjamesg[d]
I’ll add to the IndieWeb utils page.

Just generated this week's newsletter! You still have a few minutes to make changes, and I'll re-generate it 10 minutes before it gets sent out at 3pm Pacific time. https://indieweb.org/this-week/2022-01-07.html
#
[tantek]
let's see if that helped
#
capjamesg[d]
I might take on the reacji/ reactjis split page tomorrow too.
#
[tantek]
it helped a bit
#
capjamesg[d]
I’ll have more for next week haha.
#
[tantek]
I took a look at that one and it's kinda hard. happy to collaborate on that capjamesg[d] as it would make a good learning opportunity!
#
[tantek]
hey folks, if you can find small improvements to make to /discovery /blogroll /wiki-page and /why, we can bump those up above the less indieweb-relevant pages in the Newsletter
#
capjamesg[d]
I’ll maybe create a basic page tomorrow. To the extent I can see, the plural page would be for documenting the examples of presentation whereas the individual page would be more about markup, etc.
#
capjamesg[d]
What is a blogroll?
#
Loqi
A blogroll is a list of other sites that you read, are a follower of, or recommend https://indieweb.org/blogroll
#
capjamesg[d]
It looks like Tom Morris no longer has a blogroll.
#
capjamesg[d]
Maybe create a past examples section?
#
[tantek]
like literally most people here have a blogroll (I think), e.g. [KevinMarks] maybe GWG, aaronpk? and could add themselves to the IndieWeb Examples there
#
capjamesg[d]
I do too.
#
[tantek]
go ahead and see if you can look up his blogroll in the Internet Archive and add a link to it there and move his entry to Past Examples
#
Loqi
[James] Blogs I follow using RSS
#
capjamesg[d]
Oh wow that page is missing many blogs haha.
#
GWG
I don't have a blogroll
#
[tantek]
capjamesg[d], it can't be "missing many blogs", it could be missing many IndieWeb community members that have blogrolls
#
capjamesg[d]
No I meant my article.
#
capjamesg[d]
I subscribe to at least 100 blogs in my feed reader. That article doesn’t list nearly that many.
#
capjamesg[d]
I definitely need the automated blogroll thing.
