[tantek]We had one reported positive Covid case (as of this past Monday) of an IWC SD participant. Has anyone else who was at IWC SD felt any respiratory symptoms since the camp? Covid incubation times would mean the earliest you would have felt it is maybe Tuesday or Wednesday but certainly by today if you got it at the camp.
[tantek]Especially asking [chrisaldrich] [gRegorLove] Angelo who rode with me in the car on Sunday night and joined in after camp snacks, coffees, and the Mexican dinner place. If you could confirm whether or not you have symptoms (I'm fine btw, zero symptoms), that would be a relief to know either way.
[Joe_Crawford]Iโm feeling fine and have no symptoms whatsoever. I drove David Saturday morning from his hotel to the place, David was masked, and I believe I rolled down windows for the drive. Take that as a data point. Thanks for the mention [tantek]
[Joe_Crawford]Time storage is fraught because time is malleable. Time zones are human constructs, leap days, daylight savings, jurisdictional variances (there are places on the planet with half hour offsets). So any time you do time processing every piece of it: ui, backend, database, app, browser, os has to be in relative agreement about what is being passed around. If any one of them is passed something it doesnโt understand you get hilarious a
[tantek]I think if we can get negative confirmations from at least the folks in the car / Sunday night gatherings (who had the longest period of time adjacent to, and thus vulnerable to contagion), we can consider it done.
[tantek]waiting to hear back from [chrisaldrich] and Angelo who were in the car with me. I was driving and lowered all four windows during every trip, and every coffee/snack/dining spot we went to we sat outdoors. really glad I specifically asked for that El Z place to specifically seat us outdoors. That may have made the difference tbh
gRegorPeter is the only one maybe not in the loop via being in chat regularly, though I did email him the other day and just heard back. I'll mention in the reply.
gRegorI think in general the newsletter is the best way we have to get information like that out. But yes, in this case the majority of attendees are here in chat or reachable by us. [Joe_Crawford] can you let Al know?
[tantek]gRegor, yeah, we have to manage/balance reaching folks who may be impacted (who we have a short list of) vs broadcasting to folks 99% of whom (assuming 1000 newsletter subs) have nothing to do with the event, and either unnecessarily scaring people, or potentially directing unnecessary attention to personal medical matters

[Joe_Crawford][gRegorLove] I will directly send a message but also I think I can mention [Al_Abut] here and potentially reach. But I will directly contact him as well.
[Joe_Crawford]I texted him. Deserves a direct message without having to scroll back to context. And is David the one positive test and symptomatic attendee?
[tantek]capjamesg, Loqi, there you go, photos uploaded, though apparently across the newsletter generation so only the day 1 photo made it into that draft, which is fine.
[tantek]Seeing the upcoming events listed like "normal" looking headings and descriptions makes me want to style them up a little differently to really call out that THESE ARE EVENTS
[tantek]like a medium sized floating square to the left of each event name & summary with the month & day of the event in it. like ๐ except with the month of the event in white on the maroon top third, and the day of the month of the event in large black text on the white lower two-thirds
[tantek]that calendar square thing would be as tall as (and to the left of) the first two lines of each event (name and date), e.g. to the left of "*IndieWeb Create Day /* Monday, December 25 at 9:00am"
LoqiJust generated this week's newsletter! You still have a few minutes to make changes, and I'll re-generate it 10 minutes before it gets sent out at 3pm Pacific time. https://indieweb.org/this-week/2023-12-22.html
