oh no it looks like the newsletter in email is showing the CSS style sheets again, including "<![CDATA[*/" at the start
#
[tantek]
aaronpk, it looks correct on the web: https://indieweb.org/this-week/2024-03-22.html
#
[tantek]
oddly, viewing source on that does show the style sheet contents, but they are not visible on the page due to the "<!--/*--><![CDATA[*/" being preserved fully
#
[tantek]
so that's a bug, because whatever is parsing that p-summary should not be including HTML comments or CDATA!
#
[tantek]
however when looking at the HTML email source of the newsletter it shows:
#
[tantek]
<!--/*--><![CDATA[*/
#
[tantek]
so somehow whatever code/service is sending the web page to the email service, or the email service, is HTML escaping just that one "<" into "<", but not the leading HTML comment!
#
[tantek]
so weird
#
[tantek]
so the email HTML vs web HTML is weird but that's not the first problem

[tantek]
which mf2 parser is the newsletter generation code using to extract the p-summary from the profile? because that's where the source (so to speak) of the problem is.
#
[tantek]
the p-summary from pin13's mf2 parsing is clean, no style sheet contents, CDATA markup etc. in there
#
aaronpk
The email is generated by Mailchimp from the RSS feed
#
aaronpk
looks like the newsletter is using a super old mf2 parser, 0.2
#
aaronpk
let's do some debugging
#
aaronpk
hopefully without breaking anything
#
Loqi
Generated a new draft of the newsletter! https://indieweb.org/this-week/2023-03-22.html
#
aaronpk
yep that fixed it
#
aaronpk
now on parser version 0.5
#
[tantek]
uh, aaronpk, why does that newsletter have a name from LAST year "2023-03-22" yet says "March 8, 2024 through March 22, 2023" oh dear that's backwards in time
#
[tantek]
and then has HWC events photos from *May* 2023
#
[tantek]
did you mean https://indieweb.org/this-week/2024-03-22.html ? which looks unchanged, still has "<!--/*--><![CDATA[*/" inside

or is "2023-03-22" a hidden experimental file? I see it's not actually in the newsletter index
#
aaronpk
Umm weird
#
aaronpk
Apparently there is more than one place the newsletter dates are set??
#
aaronpk
well I guess I should double check again then
