[tantek] Those are all reasonable observations. Yes there's a very strong desire with mf2 to reduce or eliminate such vocab specific rules hence the may etc to provide an option for implementations and see if they use it. If they don't then we can adjust the spec accordingly

[aciccarello] I would lean towards only returning metaformats if there is no microformats on the page.

[aciccarello] The use case I see for metaformats is citing another page e.g. for bookmarks/likes. So I would only use metaformats as a fallback option.

[aciccarello] The issue of fidelity does complicate things though. I'd have to see what low fidelity looks like.
