bonjour
#
aaronpk
good morning from Amsterdam! I'm on my way to Paris!
#
elf-pavlik
bonjour aaronpk :)
#
elf-pavlik
i just started adding issues for Micropub spec
#
aaronpk
so i see
#
aaronpk
huh yeah that definitely didn't return any results for whatever it was I was looking for
#
aaronpk
would it be useful if I did a few more user stories like this? https://github.com/aaronpk/Micropub/blob/master/user-stories/user-posts-a-note.md

bblfish_, ^
#
elf-pavlik
aaronpk, can you do updating contact information with patch?
#
elf-pavlik
this way we can compare it directly with bblfish_ SoLiD take on it https://github.com/read-write-web/SoLiD/blob/master/UserStories/UserProfileManagement.md
#
aaronpk
it's interesting because so far nobody has needed or expressed interest in updating their profile via an app
#
elf-pavlik
how do you do that?
#
aaronpk
they publish their profile on their home page or another page on their site using their own authoring tools
#
bblfish_
well it's the first user story in the list
#
elf-pavlik
twitter, facebook, linked in, all? give you UI to edit your profile
#
aaronpk
afaik none of those allow apps to update your profile tho
#
aaronpk
in other words, they don't have an API for it
#
aaronpk
ugh js docs. back button doesn't even work
#
aaronpk
I stand corrected
#
aaronpk
although I can be reasonably sure none of them let you *create* a profile using the API
#
elf-pavlik
sorry for JS only :S
#
elf-pavlik
aaronpk, we had discussion with Evan about it on mailing list and agreed to keep creating new profile as edge case
#
elf-pavlik
but updating makes a lot of sense to me
#
elf-pavlik
and can let us compare examples from SoLiD and Micropub side by side
#
elf-pavlik
if Micropub can't support it - also worth noting
#
aaronpk
i don't know if "can't" is the right word, but certainly no implementations currently support it
#
bblfish_
Funny, that is the first thing we start to do.
#
aaronpk
also i'm curious when the last time you used a facebook or twitter application to update your profile
#
elf-pavlik
people interested in using Micropub to update profile information similar to one linked above
#
aaronpk
i'm just pointing out the data point that currently out of all the micropub implementations, nobody has expressed any desire to use a micropub app to update their profile information. not saying it will never happen, but is certinaly not a priority apparently.
#
aaronpk
i'm going to continue other user stories that are more obviously "social"
#
bblfish
aaronpk: Our goal is not to mimick Facebook or Twitter
#
bblfish
our goal is to build a distributed social web
#

elf-pavlik
aaronpk, what if i just want to upload a photo to album but not post to my feed about it?
#
aaronpk
that sounds like a different user story
#
elf-pavlik
i just try to understand what *assumptions* micropub makes
#
elf-pavlik
do you mind me creating issue with request to add short section with all the assumptions made?
#
aaronpk
i'm not sure i can quickly enumerate all the assumptions made, but it's not a bad idea to collect them
#
elf-pavlik
i'll make issue than

#
aaronpk
many of these user stories are read-only, which means micropub doesn't apply to them
#
aaronpk
in order to make sense of these, we're going to have to think of our current model of a "reader" slightly differently
#
aaronpk
(unless just viewing in a browser is an acceptable solution)
#
aaronpk
this probably deserves some clarification. i'll attempt to add https://www.w3.org/wiki/Socialwg/Social_API/User_stories#Reading_a_user.27s_recent_posts now
#
elf-pavlik
aaronpk, i remember you did likes and replies from reader?
#
aaronpk
yes, that is a more straightforward example
#

oh my god there are so many user stories

#
aaronpk
omg i just saw that
#
aaronpk
i must have been burnt out by voting at that point because i would have given it a -1
#
elf-pavlik
bblfish, melvster can you describe and demo ^
#
aaronpk
for first version
#
Loqi
@elfpavlik :: @remotestorage_ do you still use https://github.com/w3ctag/capability-urls for /public scope? maybe worth referencing this @w3ctag draft...
#
aaronpk
well in any case, I've already sent private messages to one and multiple people, so I can document it anyway
#
elf-pavlik
awesome!
#
aaronpk
i'm going to document this Responses story next
#
aaronpk
this one covers a lot of ground, so it would be super useful as a comparison
#
elf-pavlik
makes sense!
#
aaronpk
this example is using Micropub, Microformats, PubSubHubbub, and Webmention
#
aaronpk
which, interestingly, were all developed independently over drastically different timeframes, but come together nicely to solve this user story
#
elf-pavlik
<aaronpk> going through this user story piece by piece is really helpful. I would love to see the others do the same

rhiaro, ATM discussing with bblfish if in LDP graph names denote a graph http://www.w3.org/TR/rdf11-concepts/#section-dataset
#
bblfish
<> ldp:contains <c1> .
#
bblfish
if <c1> names an LDP-RS then it could be used as the name of a graph in a SPARQL query on the LDPC.
