#tantekchrisaldrich, agreed with you that "Indiemark is a better structural framework for those building sites from the metal up", maybe we can do some rethinking during IWS
#tantekthere's still an important distinction between "new to IndieWeb" (but longtime WordPress user, of which there are many), and "new to IndieWeb" (and never had a site, but has heard good things about WordPress, has friends that use it, etc.)
#tantekboth are beginners of a sort, but need very different tutorials
#jgmac1106Feel that. Been a Wordpress user for seven years and still can’t figure this stuff out sometimes.
#tantekI'd almost rather focus on that crowd first (or more importantly) for IndieWeb WordPress tutorials, than the *complete* beginner, who I think would do better to start with a much simpler (easier to learn, maintain) GitHub static site with free domain hosting.
#tantekWe've had good luck with helping complete beginners setup such GitHub static sites during IWCs and then even just occasionally update them. Whereas such beginners who end up setting up WordPress either get frustrated from the complexity, or give up and their site is taken over because they forgot to click something (or just login etc.) for an "automated" security update.
#tantekI'm open to hearing counter-examples (of either) since that's just personal anecdata.
#[chrisaldrich]the nice problem we've got is that the WP pages should have relative outlines for the first three generations... it's definitely something I've been thinking about.
#jgmac1106Been writing that page using the limited data I have from my user story interviews and my own learniings as the chatroom helps me
#jgmac1106[chrisaldrich] +1 to determining common text structure before just editing
#jgmac1106off to put my oldest to bed and then see if I get more than n=1 tonight
#[chrisaldrich]Hopefully I'll figure out how to lay out the downloading, activating, settings, and use of the fleet of common plugins soon.
#jgmac1106Still want to iterate that the gettign started page in Indieweb plugin, plus the “more details” pages of each plugin important and in bes world would simply match that plugin description page on wiki
#tantekno objections to reverting to the pre-IndieMark structure then to at least get a quick incremental improvement?

#[jgmac1106]yes delete indiemark, confuses everyone. i still don't even know what it really is
#tantekjgmac1106: well that's worth a good Q&A then perhaps in person Sunday night! Maybe we can even record it podcast style since GWG and chrisaldrich seem to be having so much fun with that format
#LoqiIndieMark is a set of metrics for measuring the indieweb-ness of a site, and a step-by-step approach to incrementally adopting indieweb features on your site https://indieweb.org/IndieMark
#LoqiWow! That is amazing to hear. I was just going through the plug-in in the #WordPress repo trying to figure out how you do a “PR” or if I should just fork the plugin. This is even cooler! If the team has questions stop by the microformats chat htt...
#[jgmac1106]The ol ul of highlighted areas adding hyperlinks sometimes. I like you live in the text editor but was checking out the other side in case my students use your theme
#[jgmac1106]Can file issues, there are a few I noticed
#GWGYou'll have to show me, I don't write posts in the text editor

#tantek__just got this error from trying to publish a post on a wordpress: Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'DefensioConnectionError' with message 'Impossible to open socket to api.defensio.com:80'
#tantek__is anyone using defensio anymore or should I just disable it?
#tantek__the post was published no problem. I don't understand what an anti-spam plugin would have to be doing in the process of publishing a post.

#[miklb]I meant the service. I used it with Habari years ago, but didn’t know they were still around.
