Alright, time to run for a bit to get dinner and the evening sorted so I can be back for vHWC Americas in a few hours....

GWG++ for iterating!

Does anyone know why tweets via Bridgy have "Like this" at the end? https://twitter.com/RosemaryOrchard/status/1128888040905158656
#
@RosemaryOrchard
@tedsvo this is specifically for triggering things based on stuff happening online, whereas @LaunchCenterPro is based on time, location, iBeacons or NFC tags. ### Like this: Like Loading...

#
[Rose]
Check the Loqi transcription, just deleted the tweet and recreated it without the extra text
#
[Rose]
I suspect that it's coming from WordPress's thing where you can "like" a post: https://rosemaryorchard.com/uncategorized/2678/

Good day, Rose
#
[Rose]
Hello!
#
[Rose]
I think I fixed it, just removed the sharing and like buttons
[tantek] joined the channel
#
[Rose]
And added them back above the comments, having a child theme is so worth it
#
GWG
I still keep jumping back to style issues
#
[Rose]
I think your current solution is fine as an intermediary solution
#
GWG
Even when your site is stable, formatting is an issue
#
GWG
I accommodated pfefferle's request and set only a right margin
#
[Rose]
Definitely, though having my sidebar back was a challenge, I'm happy with that now
#
GWG
Next for you is?
#
GWG
You have Hack Day on Sunday
#
[Rose]
Good question, since last weekend I fixed my site, and I can now own my replies.
#
GWG
From where?
#
[Rose]
Probably, as Zegnat king of the h-card will be there, I should work on my about page: https://indieweb.org/User:Rosemaryorchard.com
#
[Rose]
I am now replying to Twitter through my blog. And Micro.blog can also be owned, as can any reply where the other person has webmention support.
#
GWG
Improving my feeds - want to link all of them in my <head>
#
GWG
I should add that to Post Kinds
#
[Rose]
I would love that. Mine are in my sidebar for now.
#
Loqi
totally
#
[Rose]
I was considering adding a page for my whole stream to my site too
#
GWG
I still have the idea of doing a customizable rewrite
#
GWG
Specify which items you want to exclude, and a name and it would be a rewrite option
#
GWG
Example.com/stream
#
[Rose]
That would be pretty awesome
#
[Rose]
Stretch goal for before work complete: fixed my active menu highlighting to be consistant
#
[Rose]
GWG can I help with webmentions?
#
[Rose]
I want to add the ability to subscribe to my webmentions in a reader, but to do that I want to help you finish your current goals first 😛

It would be awesome if you can help working on the Webmention plugin... I think the hardest part is to find a way to collaborate and/or that everyone has the same idea how it has to be changed/implemented

I can’t touch rhe code but happy to help wrangle all the ideas, steward a road map, development cycle and testing plan , etc. Agree with pfefferle, an all hands issue..webmention plugin…but needs agreement and focus

#
GWG
Right now, it's a big job because of a migration of old data
#
GWG
And my desire to not just hack the odd pieces together, to make it seamless
#
[jgmac1106]
yes so I think what pfefferle suggests, coming to agreement on a direction and roadmap may help to make it more seamless and so either of you aren't doing it alone..but with [Rose] as well
#
[Rose]
If we can break it down into explicit tasks it would be easier to pick things up to do.
#
GWG
I have some ideas I have documented as a start

Good morning. The latest Post Kinds update, 3.2.6, has fixed the search result issue with the Autonomie theme but I'm getting duplicate responses in posts on all other pages now.
#
[stefp]
doubled might be a better description
#
GWG
It's been raised

I was asked to fix a different problem and it affected that theme

When I syndicate to Twitter via Bridgy, it does so via an old test Twitter account, @loopdouble_test, rather than @loopdouble
#
doubleloop
Via Syndication Links plugin
#
doubleloop
My user profile setting for Twitter is loopdouble
#
doubleloop
And my rel=me link for Twitter is loopdouble
#
doubleloop
Wondering if there's another setting I've missed somewhere?
#
GWG
No. It is likely on the bridgy side
#
GWG
Look at your bridgy user page
#
Loqi
GWG has 87 karma in this channel over the last year (170 in all channels)
#
doubleloop
I think maybe what it is was that I had both Twitter accounts associated with doubleloop.net, and I guess brid.gy was picking up loopdouble_test first?
#
doubleloop
I've disabled the loopdouble_test account now on brid.gy
#
doubleloop
I'd already removed the website link on the test twitter account, but now I've disabled the test account in brid.gy altogether. If I wanted to use it again I guess I should do it on a different URL altogether. i.e. have a test indieweb site for it too?
#
GWG
Yes

Figured that someone might be able to provide a quick hand here. I'm just setting up my site, and what is everyone using for Posse these days that's not Jetpack? I'm trying to avoid using any of the sharing modules that thing provides at all costs. I currently have snap installed, though doesn't work too well for notes and other post types without a title, I don't think. Should I just use the feeds cross posted to Micro.blog and then
#
cambridgeport90
take care of those?

Bridgy is what I use for most things - and I have an RSS feed going to micro.blog which just shares articles, notes and photos
#

SNAP still works though read their ToS. But most people just using Bridgy.

I just had a weird issue with Bridgy - it posted my excerpt and featured image to Twitter, but didn't link back to my blog post, which has a title.
#
sknebel
that has "bridgy-twitter-content": [ "Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day and I'm really pleased to see that Apple has updated the Shortcuts gallery to highlight some Shortcuts targeted at solving some of the problems people face every day." ] explicitly defined
#
[Rose]
I didn't know I was defining content for Bridgy, I defined the excerpt for Facebook
#
sknebel
and your wordpress is apparently set to tell bridgy to omit the backlink if the content fits in the tweet
#
sknebel
(also a bunch of url properties on the post that don't belong there, but thats unrelated)
#
[Rose]
In this case, the content didn't fit in the tweet, the excerpt did
#
sknebel
content = what bridgy publishes as the tweet content
#
[Rose]
Ahh, there's a setting, the very last one, which is to use the excerpts
#
[Rose]
"Tell Bridgy to Use Post Excerpt for Tweets if set"
#
[Rose]
This is now unset
#
[Rose]
(This is not what I would have expected to be the default setting, but I can see why it would be, hmm)
#
GWG
No matter what, I can't make people happy on default

Love what bridgy does, anyway. If you hold on, you'll see another test. Still need to find the file that I can use to get rid of post formats, though. I want to only use post kinds; like them better.
