#Guest7772Hi everyone, sorry for the bothering, I tried IndieWeb before, but failed with it, because I'm tired of constantly configuring CMS, which good way to run selfhosted tumble-blog now?

#[fluffy]IndieWeb isn’t any one platform, there’s a bunch of things you can try for hosting your site. micro.blog is a pretty decent way to get started.
#[fluffy]Tumblr is also an okay option if you don’t care so much about things like webmention or IndieAuth.
#[fluffy]Hosted wordpress is also an okay way to go.
#[fluffy]What platforms have you tried in the past?
#Guest7772micro.blog seem to be cool, but does it have self-hosted version? My main preference is to own data locally
#Guest7772WordPress and Known, but never used it on constant basis
#[fluffy]I don’t know of a self-hosted equivalent to micro.blog, sorry. But if you’re going for self-hosting and don’t want to spend a lot of time on configuring the CMS, wordpress with the indieweb plugin seems like an okay option. You could ask around in #indieweb-wordpress about that.
#[fluffy]Or you could go oldschool and use Movable Type :)
#[fluffy]Really there’s a lot of options out there and it depends on what sort of workflow you’d be comfortable with. Personally I use Publ but it’s definitely on the fiddlier side to get set up and has a fairly high admin tax.

#Guest7772Thank you, can you recommend frontend UI for creating new posts on own site, such as Twitter and other social sites? I remembered P2 theme, but it's in rework stage and is currently only supported on WordPress.com, I think Known is a good option, but I prefer selfhosted WP more and I encountered "outdated" bugs in PHP 8 with Known, maybe, I need to update the project code, but my programming style is far from good
#[tantek]Guest7772, there are a bunch of folks here using selfhosted WP so you're in good company. There tends to be more discussion of best practices for that in the #indieweb-wordpress

#@jackthe days of usenet, irc, the web...even email (w PGP)...were amazing. centralizing discovery and identity into corporations really damaged the internet. I realize I'm partially to blame, and regret it. (twitter.com/_/status/1510314535671922689)
