lecaseusboredgargoyle[d]: Thanks 😄 but I try to keep my use of AI to a minimum especially with major decisions. This way I can still practice my own skill. Also I'm starting to feel like a hypocrite for being in the no AI webring lol

[tantek]katx, indieweb chats are fairly "slow" chats without the typical "instant response" urgency of say, social media, or Discord, or other high-twitchiness places. perhaps we can make that more clear on the /discuss page

[tantek]katx, it's pretty funny because you're not the first to wonder why things are "quiet". if you search the logs you'll see every month or so we get someone who says "hello?" or "anyone here?" as their first chat and then if they don't get an instant (like within 1-2 min) response they give up because they think lack of instant response means something is "dead".
[tantek]exactly! the assumption that all chats are either "instant response" or "oh well they must be dead" is a false assumption. there's a whole spectrum
katxi have, not fully though. there are dozens of communities i like to be a part of present *only* on facebook. making people switch to, say, phpbb forums is impossible these days. unless fb seize to exist :)
Loqisilo quits are public statements by individuals announcing they have quit posting on or using various silos with no intention to return. Sometimes people take a temporary break or soft quit, AKA a social media break or social media detox https://indieweb.org/silo-quits
[tantek]^ if you remember what dates you have left various silos (especially if you blogged about leaving them!) feel free to add yourself to the year clustered/sorted examples there
LoqiA silo or web content hosting silo (AKA walled garden), in the context of the IndieWeb, is a centralized web site (like most social media) typically owned by a for-profit corporation that stakes some claim to content contributed to it and restricts access in some way (has walls) https://indieweb.org/silo

lecaseusLoqi: TIL a new term, but I'm not sure if I can ever commit to permanently deleting my social media since that's mainly how my friends and family contact me
