Searching for that turns up a number of examples. It's all about the fidelity you want of the sizes of things. Many choices to make given the distances and size contrasts (sun vs jupiter vs earth vs, say, phobos). It's weirdly simple to create some orbiting figures. Just made one. https://codepen.io/artlung/pen/PwzNMjB

If you're gathering -examples for a roast microformat, you should look at Monmouth https://www.monmouthcoffee.co.uk/product/el-salvador-finca-malacara-a
#
[KevinMarks]2
They do a lot of clever subtle things, like a different colour code per roast

more context on planets problem: i want to use images for the planets, rather than "drawing" them in CSS

in my codepen you could set `--bg: url(image.jpg) 50% 50%/contain no-repeat;`

gRegor: on the webmention stuff from last night: the thing is, I want the replies to be shown on my site. if there's nothing other than bridgy fed that really does this, then I'll just deal with that, but if there is smth else then I'd like to use it. webmention.io looks interesting, but at that point I might as well just use webmentions directly and parse them myself.
#

although, there's also like a 50/50 I end up just implementing my own rudimentary fedi server, and do idk what for bluesky and delay finishing my website update by another year or two lol

It's nice to see coffee people here! I am really into home brewing / speciality coffee. I haven't updated this for a long time, but it's an interactive dashboard I created from a spreadsheet of all the coffees I brewed at home.

coffee you consume, make, or grind?

yeah ;) it's all the coffee I bought and drink (whole beans) and I grind it for filter (pour over) usually, but sometimes manual espresso.

The micropub spec does not allow for uploading more than one image/video at a time, right? If a server encounters a multipart body which multiple file parts in it, should it reject the request or only take the first one and proceed as normal?

This morning’s early morning news of Tailwind layoff after losing 80% of their revenue vanished, has had me with quite a few questions on top of the questions I’ve had.
#
[aciccarello]
Wow, that's rough
#
[aciccarello]
I didn't realize they got so much revenue from docs
#
[snarfed]
TIL Tailwind is a whole company
#
[artlung]
Same. It's a library at a scale of Twitter's Bootstrap which had big dollars behind it. I didn't think to wonder of what fuels it.
#
[schmarty]
there's still a "me sowing / me reaping" feel to this moment for tailwind
#
[social]2
Tailwind is relatively small, it was 4 engineers, now one. But, their revenue comes from their “Tailwind Plus” plan with templates and subscriptions, plus sponsors. Most of Tailwind’s traffic was seemingly driven by users coming for documentation and learning more about what was offered and either getting a plus account or sponsoring Tailwind.
#
[social]2
I don’t and haven’t used, it but have worked with a lot of companies that lean on it heavily.
#
crowdersoup
Wow, that's honestly wild for Tailwind. I'm not surprised either. They made a system that it turns out AI is really good at using so now no one needs to visit their docs
#
[tantek]4
Also slopcoding is plenty fine at normal HTML+CSS so those folks don't need Tailwind either
#
[tantek]4
Also TIL you can make money enough to hire people with a CSS framework?!? (At least for a brief period of time)

The archive.is discussion at HWC last night got me curious and I dove into the blog. I was surprised at how old it is, back to 2012, and that it's still a tumblr blog
#
gRegor
And the very second post was about longevity that we were discussing, heh: https://blog.archive.today/post/38139265209/what-will-happen-to-the-data-when-you-shut-the
#
gRegor
Not that "I do not plan to shut down the site" is a very reassuring response, haha
#
gRegor
what is archive.is
#
Loqi
archive.ph (or archive.today, archive.is) is an archive service that stores text, images, and a screenshot of the page https://indieweb.org/archive.is
#
gRegor
ooh yikes, from wikipedia: "On October 30, 2025, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) subpoenaed Archive.today's domain registrar, Tucows. The subpoena stated its purpose is to identify the owner(s) of the archive.today domain name, and that it was part of a criminal investigation conducted by the FBI, the nature of which was not disclosed."

I am actually thinking of cranking my feed file delay from 10min to either 1-2h or maybe even 12hr
#
[tantek]4
yeah why not
#
Loqi
math has 1 karma over the last year
#
[tantek]4
I have a global $feed_delay which is the integer number of seconds to delay putting a post in feed file(s). currently 600. new number is going to be 43200. math++
#
[social]2
As a consumer of fine IndieWeb feeds, I’d encourage no more than 1. to 2 hours between posting and having your feed update. I consume via feeds, but also go directly to sites to read, and others post links to interesting links. A long delay between the post and the feed generation can invoke questions, like “did I read this already?“, “is this an edit?“…
#
[tantek]4
How often do you check your feed reader [social]? and which reader do you use that doesn't (yet) support h-feed?
#
[social]2
I check my feed reader once or twice a day. I use NetNewsWire, which seems to consume and deal with most everything I throw at it.
#
gRegor
Heh, easier question is which readers do support h-feed
#
[tantek]4
at least Monocle and Artemis do
#
gRegor
Yep, and Together
#
[tantek]4
[social] once or twice a day is fine for a 12hr delay. like exactly fine.
#
[tantek]4
how often do you check your Masto/Bluesky?
#
[tantek]4
and it's deployed. 12hr delay for Atom

What I’m saying is I often check sites directly or will see things mentioned and read it, but then a feed that lags will put it infront of me again many hours later.
#
[tantek]4
My point is since you're already "only" checking your feed reader "once or twice a day", you're already seeing stuff in your feed reader hours after you checked sites directly

I was playing around with a rest module in Drupal yesterday. And in about 15 minutes, I had a json representation of an events feed. Shame that calendar apps will read only iCalendar.
[daveletorey]1 and geoffo joined the channel
#
btrem
Hmm, wait. Can I convert json to ical using php? Searching now....
#
btrem
Alas no, because while the RESTUI will provide HTTP auth to a rest resource in json, it will not provide one for any custom module I build to convert that json to iCalendar. @#$@#$@*&(! it all.
#
btrem
<rant>What the ever living you-know-what!? How can it be _this_ hard to do something so obviously useful? I can't be the only person who needs this.</rant>

@btrem could you use https://packagist.org/packages/eluceo/ical - that's what Meetable uses
cremaster_ joined the channel
#
btrem
[KevinMarks]2 I was actually looking at that. Yes, I can convert json to ical using that project. But then I can no longer provide basic http auth to the result. The basic http auth can only be applied to the json feed that is produced by drupal's rest export module.
#
btrem
I'm hamstrung by the combination of Drupal and iCalendar. And while these days (as I've expressed here recently) I hate both, I think the real culprit is iCalendar. It is difficult to work with, which, it appears to me, makes it unappealing for devs to cater to it. If calendar apps read json feeds, it would be trivial to accomplish my goal.
#
btrem
But really, any sane format would be better than iCalendar: json, yaml, h-events....
#
[KevinMarks]2
I thought basic auth was built into PHP
#
gRegor
!standards
#
gRegor
Surprised generating JSON was easier than adding h-event to the HTML
#
[tantek]4
HTML scares many developers for some reason
#
gRegor
But it's Drupal. Spitting out HTML is kind of its thing XD
#
btrem
[KevinMarks]2: Might be that basic auth is built into php. But it's not built into Drupal. The normal auth method is cookies.
#
btrem
gRegor: There's a module called Rest Export that exports a view into either json or php. There would still be hurdles to overcome, like what to do when two content types have different internal fields for the same event property (e.g., configuring `meeting_date` and `event_date_start` to both map to iCalendar's `DTSTART`).
#
btrem
By contrast, overwriting Drupal's markup is tedious. I could probably do it by click-and-pointing in the view ui, but the time it would take is off-putting. And the result might be a bit brittle.
#
btrem
I could try mucking around with twig templates, but the same thing applies: tedious and possibly brittle.
#
btrem
[KevinMarks]2: my last comment was somewhat misleading. Basic auth is available in Drupal. But the default auth method is cookies. I can add basic auth to a rest export by merely clicking a checkbox in the rest export view ui. Adding basic http auth to an arbitrary url is not quite so easy.
