# ↩️ @rmondello @Mandy_Kerr Does that mean it looks at microformats, specifically mf2? ( twitter.com/_/status/1020170679507996672)

# ↩️ Yeah it's kind of amazing how we have two full stacks for this stuff with the #IndieWeb and #LinkedData, sort of upholding the old Microformats vs. RDF thing. Different focus though, so maybe it's actually good. ( twitter.com/_/status/1020228820153110528)

# microformats is a broken fork of the "RDF in HTML" initiative. RDFa emerged as it fit the Web architecture/goals, and became part of the family of W3C Recommendations. Given mf1's limitations, mf2 tried to mimic RDFa; ended up not being backwards compatible with mf1. ( twitter.com/_/status/1020238366699413504)
# I've been recently reading on all the IndieWeb is about, i.e. using microformats, webmentions, POSSE, and I'm surprised how much content and context we can get out by simply annotating our blogs properly. The web itself is indeed a social network. ( twitter.com/_/status/1020241569734184960)
# ↩️ I was attracted to microformats2, first because of community values, and two because the “opennes” of RDF in the learning space did not feel open (standards boards costing thousands.. Not W3c) and “complexity” there is microdata for color of developers… http://jgregorymcverry.com/4723-2/ ( twitter.com/_/status/1020243223287980032)

# ↩️ With all due respect, please do check the wiki on its position/understanding on LinkedData/RDF and related tech. Judge for yourself whether it is genuine. Try to develop/push/evangelise non-microformats-centric/"IndieWeb" (whatever that is) approaches (eg RDFa). ( twitter.com/_/status/1020246139495428096)
# ↩️ @csarven Will agree on mf2 and microformats. Causes bunch of clean up headaches in WordPress themes. (http://jgregorymcverry.com/4733-2/) ( twitter.com/_/status/1020247254836367360)
# ↩️ Great. Related: http://microformats.org/discuss/mail/microformats-discuss/2009-February/012821.html , http://microformats.org/discuss/mail/microformats-discuss/2009-February/012822.html ;)
You understanding is a bit skewed. It isn't "metadata" the way mf/IWC talks about it. What are you looking for eg. https://schema.org/Person , https://schema.org/Article ? How about https://www.w3.org/TR/vcard-rdf/ ? ( twitter.com/_/status/1020252870778777600)

# ↩️ Part baggage is outlined here: http://microformats.org/wiki/namespaces-inconsistency-issue but it was quickly handwaved b/c ignorance on the matter is easier to govern. Related: http://microformats.org/wiki/namespaces (originally before getting redirected!) is anecdotal evidence meanwhile the world still runs on ns. Hmmm? ( twitter.com/_/status/1020258364977295361)
